See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Victor Garber utterly rocks in Titanic, and his last moments are... argh, guh and gah. Now I have to crawl under my desk and be very quietly sad for an undetermined length of time. And I am a helpless Kate Winslet fangurl, so despite the awfulness of the script, there's only so much dislike I can sustain for a movie that has her in practically every frame, especially in one sumptuous costume after another.

The good dialogue's bitch and artistic integrity snob in me want to hate it, but then the fangurl squees "KATE! KATE! IN A RED GOWN WITH JET BEADS AND A BIT OF A TRAIN! And Victor Garber! And Kathy Bates! KATE IN A TEA GOWN! KATE IN A TRAVELLING SUIT! KATE IN A HAT!" and the bitch and the snob throw up their hands and sigh.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

She really loves Kate Winslet.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I loved Titanic the first time I saw it (in theatres), but repeated viewings (people kept renting it!) gradually rendered most of the first two hours unwatchable. I still have no real desire ever to see it again.

(And as much as I love and worship Kate Winslet, her accent in Titanic drove me batty.)

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

What's not to love? As much as I love all of Heavenly Creatures, if it wasn't for Kate, the movie wouldn't be half as good, at least for me. I just loved the way that she so convincingly portrayed the borderline hysteria that is the overly dramatic teenaged girl (most of the time).

Victor Garber just utterly rocks.

JZ, were you a Molly Dodd watcher? The cast (including recurrings) never stops amazing me. Victor Garber, Nathan Lane, John Glover, Gina Gershon, David Strathairn. (And Richard Lawson, father of Bianca "Kendra" Lawson.)

I don't think she was. I was devout, however. And would love to have the first two seasons on DVD. Didn't care for it when it went to Lifetime. Staitharn as Moss was one of the greatest characters in the history of television.

Also rocking? William Converse-Roberts as her ex-husband, the jazz musician. (Best known around here as Simon and River's dad.)

The generation that could change the world is still looking for its car keys.

Quick: Name your favorite Billy Zane role!

Mine has to be in Tales from the Crypt: Demon Knight. Followed closely by Zoolander.

Sheesh, David, I know *you* were devout. It's in your file.

Moss was wonderful, and I think the first bit of the Lifetime run was decent, but that it went downhill from there. I wish it were available on DVD, too, as my tapes were destroyed long ago.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

The first (just half a) season was so deliciously melancholy. The second (also half a season) was so quirkily literary and romantic.

Quick: Name your favorite Billy Zane role!

Almost You - the Marisa Tomei & Robert Downey Jr. romantic comedy.
