Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Art Crawl!!!

Okay, comingsoon.net has a piece about the 21st Bond movie. They say it's going to be Casino Royale. . . uh. huh.

I mean, are they remaking the parody?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I mean, are they remaking the parody?

Maybe they're just making a new one from the book.

Someone in the row behind me at my last movie outing bitched at the Bewitched trailer -- doesn't Hollywood have any new ideas? Which made me think that does it matter? Supposed Bewitched is a brilliant and enjoyable movie ... doesn't that count too? If not more?

Ann, that's a ferret.

Supposed Bewitched is a brilliant and enjoyable movie ... doesn't that count too? If not more?

Yes. Especially if it's good enough to spawn sequels Bothered and Bewildered.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Oh, dear God. How on earth did I not know about this Gaiman/McKean/Henson Workshop collaboration?

SO. PRETTY. It needs to be opening in San Francisco RIGHT EXACTLY NOW.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It just premiered at Sundance. Gaiman's been blogging about it.

Because you don't obsessively read Mr. Gaiman's blog?

I can't wait for it to open. I've been looking forward to it for ages and ages, it seems.

Hey. New board.

Mmm. It does look pretty.

This is going to a be a ridiculous movie year for me.

Because you don't (obsessively) read Mr. Gaiman's blog?

That would be it. I spend too much time here already; after several brief forays, I'm utterly convinced that my employment would not survive my unrestricted wandering about in LJland and the blogosphere, so if it's movie-related (or practically anything-else-related) and nobody mentions or links to it here or in Salon or the NYT, I don't know about it.

Stoopid workplace, always expecting me to do stuff for them just because they give me money.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Hmmm. Looks like TMBG are doing songs for Henry Selick's stop motion animated Coraline. And French and Saunders are scheduled for some of the old lady voices.

To which I say: Cool!

I hope the massive success of The Corpse Bride sparks a renaissance in gothy stop motion animation.
