Up with the sun

But I've never done a side by side comparison, so there may be subtle differences

What Jesse said. In one of the comics, both appear to a traveler in one of the soft places, (not at the same time) and they look quite alike to me, to the point where I didn't understand that element of the story until I reread it.

Though who drew Brief Lives?

I just looked it up on Amazon, and sure enough, Vince Locke (my friend back in Michigan) was one of the artists for Brief Lives.

Those panels you speak of very probably are modelled on Tori Amos, Lyra. Regardless of what that FAQ says.

Yeah, the character's not, but some of the panels and some of the later text is, though my recollection at this point about this point is over a decade old. Gaiman and Amos didn't meet and become friends until after she recorded Tear in Your Hand, which was what, 1991?

What was the general impression of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the house? (We watched, thought it was okay, and that Kate Winslet was very pretty in a Jessica like way, but failed to connect to the characters enough to care about them.)

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

I really liked Eternal Sunshine. Even though the main characters weren't people I'd particularly like to know, I sympathized with the arc of their connection and the movie's message about way that your memories shape your relationships.

LOVE THIS!

(Still haven't seen the movie. Must rent it soon.)

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Hee! (Just last night, I was talking about how much I liked Eternal Sunshine, and the person I was talking to leaned in close and asked, "So...was it a hair thing?")

No, I don't think I will - me, quoting Captain Steve Rogers, to all of 2020

didn't you start to wish Jackie Chan would turn up and just twat one of them?

Haven't seen Hero, but I often get this feeling in day-to-day life.

"Can you give me an ETA on that order?"

"No, but Jackie Chan can beat you up with a grocery cart."

"HhhiiiiiiiYAH!" *crash bang splurt carnage bang crash*

"Life is brighter, now."

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

What was the general impression of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind in the house?

Overwhelmingly positive, IIRC. I loved it a lot. "Eternal Sunshine" and "Sideways" are probably my two favorite movies of the year.

Hero was gorgeous, but, despite my penchant for sweeping epic flicks, I don't think I'll ever watch it again.

It was gorgeous. And yes, it started very slow, but I did get caught up, a bit, in the endless revisions of the story. More so in the colors. What color will be next?! Hee.

I really want a screencap of the scene in the red iteration where Snow and Moon are fighting in the forest, and Snow stands with her sword high, and the red robes and the gold leaves -- guh. Just stunning.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I loved "Eternal Sunshine", not least because I could tell my friends that I'd seen, "The something something of the something Mind" and they'd know exactly what I meant. Plus Carrey didn't make me want to lunge through the screen to throttle him, which was something of an acting triumph on his part.
