That's funny, because the movie did remind me a bit of Lost in Translation, as well as Eternal Sunshine of Spotless Mind.
Oooh, but I luuurve
Eternal Sunshine.
P-C, I think you'd like it.
I have a feeling it'll pop up at one of the arthouse theaters in walking distance soon enough.
EW
also says I can't miss it.
But aaah. People need to stop invoking
Lost in Translation,
because that movie totally fucked up my meter, with the everyone loving it and it leaving me eh? That was one I was supposed to love, dammit.
(I have to admit that I'm a *total* wine geek, and so the uber-wine-geekiness of it had me laughing my ass off. I was the only one laughing at certain points.)
I can barely tell the difference between red and white.

Oh, but the wine-snob-geekery in the movie is the kind that (I think) is funny even to someone who doesn't know a thing about wine. That's the point -- to poke gentle fun at people who talk about "the undertones of chewy moss and smoky leather" in their wine.

Okay, well that there made me chuckle, so I think I'm good.
Oh, yeah. I nearly killed myself laughing when Miles went on and on about "a soupcon of asparagus and a flutter of Edam cheese".
I have never ever ever liked Thomas Hayden Church in anything ever ever ever.
Wings
hater.
Lowell Mather was hilarious.
I know there are a few others around here - MM for one, I'm pretty sure, who, if I recall correctly, is also, a fan of another action movie that didn't do so well at the box office or with the critics, but is just so much more fun than the average bangbang movie: The Long Kiss Goodnight
Yes, MM and I love both of these movies.

There must be something wrong with you, emotionally.
IJS.
Lowell Mather was hilarious.
Amen.
The show was simply not the same without him. Though, of course, I still have a fondness for the concept of Naked Land.
Not everyone.
I
knew
there was someone else! Whew.
The show was simply not the same without him.
I didn't really watch the last season or so. Once Joe and Helen became a functioning couple (they were dysfunctional at first, which was fine), I lost interest. Right about the time THC left, or a little after, I think.
