Pfft.
I rest my case.

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

Lowell Mather was hilarious.
Amen.
The show was simply not the same without him. Though, of course, I still have a fondness for the concept of Naked Land.

I knew there was someone else! Whew.

I didn't really watch the last season or so. Once Joe and Helen became a functioning couple (they were dysfunctional at first, which was fine), I lost interest. Right about the time THC left, or a little after, I think.
People need to stop invoking Lost in Translation, because that movie totally fucked up my meter, with the everyone loving it and it leaving me eh?
i'll join you and Plei in that corner. although, i may be alone because it didn't leave me just meh, it made me go WTF?! people loved, worshipped and went on and on about this?! i wondered what was wrong with me too. though, like you, i did like ESotSM.
No heart-magic.
Aw, P-C. Don't feel bad. Everyone has at least one movie that's universally beloved/acclaimed and revered by all the cool people, but leaves that person cold. Mine's "Touch of Evil". And pretty much everything Kubrick.
More recently? "Big Fish" didn't do much for me, despite strong Buffistas testimonials.

Well, I kind of had that reaction, but there were parts I really did like. Loved the conversation they had in bed, loved the simple making up after "the worst lunch ever." I felt like there was a good movie hidden in there. I mean, you've got Bill Murray and Scarlett Johannsen. But I had all sorts of fits when it not only received a nomination for but won the screenplay Oscar, because that was the weakest thing about it.
Mine's "Touch of Evil".
Were you around a few months ago when the entire board jumped on me for not falling totally and utterly in love with it?
More recently? "Big Fish" didn't do much for me, despite strong Buffistas testimonials.
Me neither! I thought it was good, okay, but not stupendous.
Oh God, I thought "Big Fish" was one of the worst movies I've ever seen! I'm glad I didn't notice the Buffista testimonials.
Angus! How the hell are you?
