this week's Nova is about the real story behind The Great Escape.
Kathy, I'm planning to watch that too.
The Great Escape
remains one of my favorite movies. Plus, the bit about Steve McQueen's character (Capt. Hilts) and the covertly brewed alcohol was taken from the story of a distant cousin, Col. Jerome Jonathon "Jerry" (Jessup) Sage.
eta: Very distant, I just looked it up: he was my Dad's 5th cousin
I was really annoyed at being delayed from the movie I came to see. But I'm a curmudgeon.
Ahh....I always look forward to the shorts just as much as the movie.
I'm watching TAR tonight, so I'll be catching Nova in a rerun, probably over the weekend. I have the DVD for Great Escape, and it has a making-of doc on it that goes into a bit of the real-life story, but not enough for me. I really love Great Escape, as well as other WWII films like The Dirty Dozen, A Road Too Far (saw this one in the theater, IIRC), and of course, HBO's Band of Brothers.
I usually like the Pixar shorts, but I didn't like
Boundin'
that much. I prefer when Pixar let's the visuals do the work in their short films.
Bear in mind, he's reprising the role that made Michael Caine a star in Alfie.
Is that bad?
Every movie Jude Law wasn't in, Michael Caine is in.
I guess I just made it up. I remember thinking "Hmmm. That's not Pixar, what is it?" but now I've completely forgotten the trailer. Maybe I'm just insane.
Definitely not getting it confused with
Boundin'
though. Which was awesome.
Also, I'm sure the reason we didn't get
Madagascar
or
Robots
trailer is the whole "Disney-owned theater" thing. They only showed Disney trailers.
Every movie Jude Law wasn't in, Michael Caine is in.
This fall? Ever? Or is it some sort of mysterious "haha! We're really the same person! You never actually saw us in the same room, did you" thing?
I have a feeling I'm missing some sort of necessary context.
Boundin' was great.
I loved that little nudist sheep.
Like I said, green is not his color.
Not that shade, anyway. I'm thinking a good costumer would do a much better job than that horrible photoshopped thing.
Oh!
I was thinking of
Chicken Little.
Which may not actually be CG. I also liked the
Pooh's Heffalump Movie
trailer.
Maybe I'm just insane.
THis is not out of the question.
