He had my goodwill. And with such, entré to my wallet. Now, NSM.
Fair enough. He just got another $50 off me, for this Massey Hall appearance, and I'm psyched to be there. An Evening with Kevin Smith was one of the funniest things I saw last year, and this is part of the filming for the follow-up.
Crackheads:
Sylvester Stallone's 2000 reworking of the Sir Michael Caine crime thriller Get Carter has been voted the worst film remake of all time in a new poll. In a survey of 2,000 film fans by DVD rental company Screenselect.co.uk, a majority voted the Rocky star's version was abysmal compared to the 1971 classic. Unfortunately for Jude Law, the recently-released Alfie film - another Caine remake - was also slammed and came in at number six in the poll. The Anne Heche-starring 1998 version of the Psycho horror film followed Get Carter at two and this year's flop Thunderbirds entered at three. The top ten also included Point of No Return at four, Charlie's Angels at five, Planet Of The Apes at seven, Starsky And Hutch at eight and Cape Fear at nine. Surprisingly 2001 blockbuster Ocean's Eleven came in at ten, despite most film reviews lauding the George Clooney film as better than the 1960 original.
Now, admittedly I've seen neither
Get Carter.
But
Ocean's Eleven
doesn't suck, and
Starksy & Hutch
and
Charlie's Angels
are just muddying the water.
The Rat Pack Ocean's Eleven was pretty mediocre. Wasn't it itself a remake of a French film or something?
How do you say "Steph sucks" in French?
"Steph est la plus belle du tout!"
The Rat Pack Ocean's Eleven was pretty mediocre
There are a couple of good bits but really it's one of the most boring movies ever.
"Steph est la plus belle du tout!"
Hmm. Somehow I am thinking not.
Lewis Milestone has said that directing the original "Ocean's 11" was the worst experience of his filmmaking career. The only reason it and most of the other Rat Pack movies were even made was that the entire Pack was in the same place at the same time for extended engagements, so the studio decided to capitalize on a unique opportunity to make a film, regardless of how good any of them were at acting. Sinatra routinely showed up late to the set and usually drunk too, and he and the others would frequently ad-lib when they just didn't like the lines they were given. They're fun movies, but I'd never call them good. Soderbergh made a good and fun flick.
But I just visited one of the stores (to buy comics)
What's the store? Is it Secret Stash gone national? (And where's one here in LA?)
But Ocean's Eleven doesn't suck
The Rat Pack Ocean's Eleven was pretty mediocre.
Actually, having seen the Soderburgh version first, I thought the Rat Pack version blew chunks. It was incredibly boring, and they were all supposed to be just regular Joes. They didn't have the hip, detached slickness of the recent one that made it so much fun.
