Fred: So you don't worry that it's possible for someone to send out a biological or electronic trigger that effectively overrides your own sense of ideals and values and replaces them with an alternative coercive agenda that reduces you to a mindless meat puppet? Shopkeeper: Wow. People used to think that I was paranoid.

Eww. I don't like Sean Connery. For me, he's like Nicholas Cage. More of a hindrance in getting me to see your movie than an enticement.

Well, it's a small part, Alibelle. I think he's in it for all of about fifteen minutes. Most of the time it's a little kid, and a bunch of little people.

Nope. This is the Terry Gilliam movie from the 80s. Made around the same time as Brazil, and equally fucked-in-the-head, if less well known.

It's much easier to be in the mood for Time Bandits than Brazil, I've found. (I, natch, own both.)

Though Brazil gave me at least one username, and may at some point give me a personalized plate, if it's not taken in Washington.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Do tell.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Aww. The movie with Caroline Dhavernas? (Hey, and Zach Galifianakis!) That's a shame.

If she was in it, I don't think she'd appeared onscreen by the time I left (pretty much as the opening credits finished, actually). Todd Holland and Bryan Fuller must have missed it as well, or they'd never have risked tainting their baby by association.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

My bad. I was thinking of Time Chasers, which is credited as being from 1997, which means the godawful FX are even more ridiculous.

Time Bandits had John Cleese as Robin Hood! I don't remember too much else about this film, though--time to Netflix.

Not just Robin Hood, but a slightly more realistic Robin Hood who stole from..... people with stuff, and gave to the....

Well, there really wasn't that second part, about the giving, so much.

Hmm. Maybe I'll watch some TG instead of Red Dwarf tonight...
