Last night I watched Audition. It was, um, disturbing.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
It actually looks like it could be good. At least, better than 13th Warrior.
I actually like the 13th Warrior. It's not historically accurate and has some realism issues (like the grinding of the viking broad sword into a scimitar) but it's a fun pseudo-fantastical adventure movie.
The puking had me covering my eyes too, and the montage song reminded me of Giles song in the musical, Standing in the Way .
But I thought Team America was fun; I'm glad I saw it. Not great, much of it was "smile to myself" funny, rather than "laugh out loud" funny.
I did quite enjoy the three sheild duel in 13th Warrior. Relatively accurate, and also funny. But I cannot watch the whole movie, because something (like the scimitar) always gets me agitated.
So, seems like possibly, maybe, perhaps, Bryan Singer has found a Superman
Specially since I have just gotten on board with the Cohen Love.
You need to love them with one less "h."
What hooked you? Lebowski?
O Brother Where Art Thou
I have the ones I haven't seen on my Netflix que.
I love O Brother. Does this mean I am part Empress?

Well, I'm a huge Coen Brothers fan, but not so huge as to go see Ladykillers or Irreconcilable Differnences (which I know some people liked).
I guess they've got mortgage payments to make.
My favorites are: Barton Fink, Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, O Brother.
Didn't enjoy: The Man Who Wasn't There (it still had a few good scenes)
Not great but sort of fascinating: Hudsucker Proxy
Excellent but atypical: Blood Simple
