NYT review of some puppet movie.

Even I get pretty anti-social.

I think it might be less about being antisocial in general, and more about having to be nice and huggy with people you might well be sick of. Think about after-work happy hours -- they're fun for a while, but then you're just ready to go home.

I love the emphasis the NYT put in this paragraph.

"Team America: World Police" is rated R (Under 17 requires accompanying parent or adult guardian). It has graphic violence, explicit sex and shocking language. And puppets!

Because of its graphic (though metaphorical) discussion of human anatomy, I can't quote any of the speech here, but it is one of the more cogent — and, dare I say it, more nuanced — defenses of American military power that I have heard recently. It is conveyed in language that no politician would dare use, by a puppet speaking to a roomful of puppets, in the wake of jokes about oral sex — all of which provides about as effective a camouflage as the pink and blue fatigues the Team America agents wear on their operations.

This is quite true. You want to go "Yes, but---!" and then you realize you're arguing with a puppet about a dick joke, and you can't go any further.

For me, I take so much joy from doing film, video, and theater work, it's almost impossible for me to think of a wrap party as even remotely resembling some kind of office gathering.

Maybe after seven years on the same show I'd feel differently, but remember, SMG said she' never been to a wrap party, so that would include the movies she's done, which is much less than a seven year commitment.

Actually, from some of the comments she's made, it seems like SMG takes very little joy in what she does, and that maybe she's in the wrong line of work.

I wonder if it's that this is what she's done her whole life and thinking about doing something else terrifes her. I mean, to spend the better part of THIRTY YEARS doing one thing and then to just up and quit? I've only been in accounting for 12 years and the thought of completely switching careers, which I need to do as I don't enjoy accounting anymore, scares the ever loving piss out of me.

That's a distinct possibilty, Aims.

Maybe the pleasant experience working on The Grudge will assuage her unhappiness some.

I hope so. But if not, I would rather see her get out of acting before she becomes all bitter and evil like.

Or maybe I'm still projecting personal shit. ;)

Aimee - she also is married to an actor who has been reported as being jealous of her success...maybe she is downplaying for his sake???

It's a definte possibility.
