Apart from sports, "my secret favorite thing on earth is ketchup. I will put ketchup on anything. But it has to be Heinz." - my husband, Michael Vartan

Well, I got "Mean Girls," because I saw the first three quarters of it on the flight home from London, but then they turned off our tv's, and I really needed to know the end. And I got "Ella Enchanted" because I like that sort of movie. And then I got "The Punisher" because I remembered that the trailer I saw made me cry.

Of course, a Campbell's soup commercial made me cry (well, it was the foster children one! How do you NOT cry?). And laughing makes me cry. And strong breezes make me cry. So that is perhaps not the vote of authority it could be, but whatever.

I have seen none of those movies, but I've heard good things about Mean Girls, and Nova likes Ella Enchanted (but mostly for the Anne Hathaway), and I think ita saw The Punisher. I don't recall hearing much good about it.

Have you seen the Lindsay Lohan Freaky Friday and Parent Trap movies? They're both really good, far better than I'd expected.

The first three quarters of "Mean Girls" is really good. I can vouch for that much. I like Anne Hathaway, though I thought that "Princess Diaries 2" was vastly superior to the first one, which I believe puts me in the minority.

I did see "Parent Trap," and it was better than I expected. I did not watch "Freaky Friday" because the promos drove me crazy, and I don't much like that story anyway. From the trailers I saw, Lindsay did seem to be better at playing an adult than Jamie Lee was at playing a teen, which was kind of interesting.

And I don't really expect "The Punisher" to be good. But it's a free rental, so it's ok.

Just turn the sound off and look at Thomas Jane in it.

Hey. New board.

Lindsay did seem to be better at playing an adult than Jamie Lee was at playing a teen

I haven't seen the movie (yet), but the one thing that every review I read of it agreed upon was that Jamie Lee Curtis was fantastic in it. Some people were talking about "Oscar nods that will never happen" and other such things. So, apparently, most of the critics disagree.

Ella Enchanted was mostly good because of Anne Hathaway, yes, but not because of the pretty exclusively - she has a presence. But the movie IS good outside of her. Incredibly cute. Which isn't to say that Hilary Duff couldn't have ruined it, I doubt there's anything she couldn't ruin, but the movie was still good on its own.

I think I may have liked PD2 more than PD1, but my perception of PD1 is colored by the books (because it actually sort of has something to do with them, which the second movie certainly did not. So I'm not really sure. I know I liked the first movie well enough to READ the books, but I remember thinking how much better the books were than the movie.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I enjoyed Freaky Friday, but there's a good reason Jamie Lee wouldn't get an Emmy for it. It wasn't that good. Depp deserved his for a comic turn -- she wasn't that much of a standout.

I was speaking of Freaky Friday, not Parent Trap.

Also, Emmy's go to television actors.

Also, like I said, haven't seen it. The critics may have been smoking crack.

Life moves pretty fast. You don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

I saw it and was impressed with both Lohan and Curtis, although Curtis had a bigger share of the comedy.

Ficht nicht mit Der Raketemensch!

Lindsay did seem to be better at playing an adult than Jamie Lee was at playing a teen

While this is true, the disturbing thing is that Lindsay was better at playing a matronly 40-something than Lindsay was at playing a teen. Very odd.
