I enjoyed Freaky Friday, but there's a good reason Jamie Lee wouldn't get an Emmy for it. It wasn't that good. Depp deserved his for a comic turn -- she wasn't that much of a standout.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

I was speaking of Freaky Friday, not Parent Trap.
Also, Emmy's go to television actors.

Also, like I said, haven't seen it. The critics may have been smoking crack.
I saw it and was impressed with both Lohan and Curtis, although Curtis had a bigger share of the comedy.
Lindsay did seem to be better at playing an adult than Jamie Lee was at playing a teen
While this is true, the disturbing thing is that Lindsay was better at playing a matronly 40-something than Lindsay was at playing a teen. Very odd.
I did see "Parent Trap," and it was better than I expected.
I liked this movie a lot more before time passed, and suddenly the possibility that Dennis Quaid might someday be starring opposite Lindsey Lohan as his love interest became real. I mean, I like to think everyone involved would say "ew" and back away slowly, but that sort of thing isn't exactly unheard-of.
I hope Tom Hanks wins:
Hollywood hunks Russell Crowe, George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Hugh Jackman are battling for the lead role in movie adaptation of best-seller The Da Vinci Code. The film's director, Ron Howard will choose which actor would best suit the role of Robert Langdon, who discovers clues in Leonardo Da Vinci's paintings, which lead to the discovery of a religious mystery protected by a secret society for 2000 years. The novel's author, Dan Brown is currently suing Lewis Perdue, who claims his work has been plagiarized and is planning a rival Da Vinci film with reality TV king Mark Burnett.
I could have liked PD2 at least as well as the first one were it not for the little kid from the Cosby Show joining Julie Andrews for a song. That whole scene rubbed me the wrong way. Otherwise, still good.
I also liked Ella Enchanted quite a bit.
I hope Tom Hanks wins
Word. If any of the others gets cast, I might actually have to see it.
Mark Burnette? Oy.
How *is* The Da Vinci code? From hearing vague rumblings about the book, I get a feeling it's a slick piece of pretentious BS, but if it's a fun, readable BS, I may give it a try, just to see what all the brouhaha is about. From the description above, it sounds similar to Eco's Foucault's Pendulum, only without a sense of irony.

I found it neither fun nor readable. Personally.
