Anybody gonna go see The Forgotten? Both the theaters within walking distance of me are showing it (which is odd, as one is a total art-house theater. In fact, if you google "art-house theater" it's the second link that comes up).

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned
A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.
I want to see The Forgotten.
Also, the other day I went to the movies with a friend. (I wanted to see Vanity Fair or Wimbeldon. She wanted to see Wicker Park. She won.) It was a horribly horrible movie, but A) We got in free and B) No one else was in the theater, so we were free to mock as loudly as we desired. That made it great.

I'm sure Ple will be first in line.
We saw Sky Captain last night. I enjoyed it but I spent a good chunk of the movie ticking off references - which isn't as much fun a movie-going experience as it used to be, I guess. Still, that overhead shot of the flying robots was straight out of the Fleischer Brothers Superman cartoons of the 40s. Polly's character was strongly modeled on the Lois Lane of those cartoons - who is fairly conniving and career driven. Lost Horizon, King Kong, Wizard of Oz were also obviously present in various parts. Lots of covers of Gernsback's early science fiction pulps like Thrilling Wonder Tales seemed present in the robots and rockets. JZ found Angelina Jolie's lips disturbing.
Good Lord! The local art-house cinemas are showing Bright Young Things, A Dirty Shame, A Touch of Pink, AND Shaun of the Dead starting tonight. And I haven't even taken time to see Sky Captain yet. Why did they hold all these movies back from that couple of months when there was nothing decent to watch?
Shaun of the Dead looks to be fun. I loved Sky Captain - it so gleefully violated laws of physics that I just shut down the critical sciency part of my brain.
Shaun of the Dead looks to be fun.
Got a rave in the local paper. Apparently a big hit in the UK.

And in this very thread, from me. Go see it! It's brilliantly funny.

I think Jessica saw that. Somebody here did, because there was also discussion about the TV series that it grew out of.
eta Heh! Should have just waited two minutes.
Go see it! It's brilliantly funny.
Can I go see Garden State first?
WTF?? Shaun of the Dead is not playing in Chicago?
eta: Stupid Yahoo Movies. It's playing in one theater, right downtown. Plus some theaters in the suburbs. Still, what's up with that?
