Now I did a job. I got nothing but trouble since I did it, not to mention more than a few unkind words as regard to my character so let me make this abundantly clear. I do the job. And then I get paid.

Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Danny Elfman will be voicing the Oopma-Loompas in the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Meep!

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Meep!

Seconded. Yowza. Hoewever, I'm still curious exactly what they are going to be like. I mean, they can't do them like the book, but I really hope they aren't remotely like the ones in the first movie.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I mean, they can't do them like the book, but I really hope they aren't remotely like the ones in the first movie.

With CGI I expect they could do them like the book. They're just wee.

I was thinking more that they were a tribe from...I think it was Africa, but it might have been South America. That's the part I don't think will fly in this day and age.

"When I look at people that I would like to feel have been a mentor or an inspiring kind of archetype of what I'd love to see my career eventually be mentioned as a footnote for in the same paragraph, it would be, like, Bowie." ~Trent Reznor

They won't be, on account of the head writer has never seen the first film. He has deliberately avoided doing so in order to make the look of the movie entirely his (and Dahl's, of course.)

If I only had a brain...

Where did he grow up, Plato's Cave?

I was charmed (albeit somewhat perplexed) by the fannish sensibility of many of the music choices -- it's like the director was trying to vid Canada. --loligo on the Olympic Opening Ceremonies

I've never seen it either, as far as I can recall.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I've never seen it either, as far as I can recall.

Perhaps you've repressed it. It is a disturbing film.

If I only had a brain...

Gene Wilder's best performance, with the possible exception of Blazing Saddles.

hip deep in pie

I've never seen it either. I just could never imagine how they could successfully film that book, so I didn't bother.
