You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

Conservative, n. A statesman who is enamored of existing evils, as distinguished from the Liberal, who wishes to replace them with others. -Bierce

I have heard nothing about the production, but I doubt I will be able to buy Keanu as the protagonist of A Scanner Darkly. Or Winona as the girl, or Woody Harrelson and Robert Downey Jr as his roommates.

My own theory is that the film was cast by a deaf mute.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Jonathan Harker -- is *supposed* to be a wimpy dork

But was he supposed to be a wimpy wooden dork with a lousy accent?

I could actually buy wooden as part of the character.

Point on the lousy accent, though.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Tom Waits was my favorite actor in that movie.

Gary Oldman's Dracula was just... weird.

Master, I've been....naughty!

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

I thought Keanu was perfect for The Matrix because he dumbed down all the high-concept stuff to the audience level (esp. in the second one). "Blah blah philosophy blah blah metaphysics", and Keanu's all, "Oh, so you mean blah". He's like ADiversion!Legolas, but actually useful.

In non-Keanu news, I finally got around to catching Takeshi Kitano's ZATOICHI, and I must say, Jim was right. I appologize again to anyone who may have read my post before the spoiler got white-fonted, and thank ita again for getting that done since I didn't get back in a timely manner.

Definitely the most delightfully strange samurai movie I've ever seen.

Punishingly Intricate

Tom Waits was my favorite actor in that movie.

I really want Tom Waits to be in the Pirates of the Caribbean sequel. Like, a lot.

Should I pay $100 to go to the premiere of the new John Waters movie? It's for a good cause...

Will John Waters be there?

Will John Waters be there?

Oh yeah. He's kind of always around.
