My primary memory of McDowell is not of a role, but of him chortling to upset fans about killing Shatner's character. Which strikes me as extremely low-class, though I'm not particularly a Shatner fan myself.

Yeah, I definitely remember him being an ass about the whole Star Trek thing. And it didn't help that the movie sucked.
