Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I'm not quite sure why Mark Dacascos never made it bigger. Maybe he doesn't want to. But he's a decent actor with impressive martial arts skills. God, the cutting and chopping that's done in a fight scene today to obscure the fact the lead can only throw four good blows.

Mark doesn't need that.

I'm a huge fan of his and the Crow movie, so I'm skewed -- but have a look -- I'm not sure how they could have extended the main impetus for much longer, but what got made was fun.

As far as Mark's movie work, everyone needs to see Drive. He's got great chemistry with Kadeem Hardison (who shows up in a couple Crow eps).

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Oh, I love The Crow so much. Not enough to dress up like anyone in it, but it's one of those movies that was where it needed to be when I needed it.

ION, saw Triplets of Belleville last night. My reaction was pretty much "Huh."

I still need to do this, so badly. Don't tell Jilli.

move out and draw fire

I am so a Mark Dacascos fangirl. I suspect he never made it bigger because no one really knew what to do with him; he got put into perennial B-movie roles.

Not Asian enough to be Jet Li, not American enough to be the nation's own hero?

God, I love that man. But I have to try and not see his movies where he doesn't fight. So far, they tend to be worse than his fighting ones. Or at least don't have the distraction of ass-kickery.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

I'm not quite sure why Mark Dacascos never made it bigger.

I think it is the protruding eyeballs.

I don't get the protruding eyeballs thing, myself. His eyes are the prettiest thing about him.

I'm not quite sure why Mark Dacascos never made it bigger.

I think my favorite fights of his so far are the Pact Des Loups fights. Lots of flipping and jumping.

Actually, although I suspect his slightly asian looks might be holding him back a little, I think he should be good looking enough to get past that.

I'm betting the reson he doesn't get more mainstream work is that traditionally, action stars that come from his background (martial arts pro) usually can't act any better than a 2x4 that's a really bad actor. I think Mark's got some chops, but there's probably enough of a stigma attached to the Don "the Dragon" Wilson/(other martial arts stars whose names escape me at the moment) type action star that it causes him some problems getting work.

Also, I was very amused while reading through Mark's IMDb bio that he's the nephew of Iron Chef's Chariman Kaga.

No, he's not. That's just schtick for the show.

But still they keep trying to force actually good HK actors of similar backgrounds into clunky vehicles -- perhaps a native English speaker would have a better time than Jet in a foreign language.

If I only had a brain...

Hey. He's the Chairman's Nephew! [x-post]
