Buffista Movies 3: Panned and Scanned

A place to talk about movies--Old and new, good and bad, high art and high cheese. It's the place to place your kittens on the award winners, gossip about upcoming fims and discuss DVD releases and extras. Spoiler policy: White font all plot-related discussion until a movie's been in wide release two weeks, and keep the major HSQ in white font until two weeks after the video/DVD release.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Unbreakable is, it seems, the new gerund.

How do you figure?

Or Atkins diet.

I'm so confused.

I hate giving up a hard earned 8 dollars to take such a chance, but I figure, at worst, my friends are excellent people to see an awful movie with.

Yeah. Pretty much, we can't not see it. We have to see this apparently ridiculous twist in its proper setting, to fully appreciate it. (By "we," I mean my friend and I, not the human race.)

The new point of contention among Buffistas. You have all these people saying they didn't like Unbreakable, and then someone will poke their head up and say "Hey, *I* liked it!" Or you get someone saying "I liked it, but I'm a comics geek," and someone else replies with "I'm a comics geek, and I *didn't* like it!" etc.

I can't even.

I liked Unbreakable (Reason no. 2: former comics geek).

I can wait to see The Village on the movie network, since that's where I saw Dead People, Drowning Man and Crop Circles, or whatever those movies are called.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm just hoping it comes to the $5 theatre, because it does sound just awful enough to be a must-see, but there's no way in hell I'm giving up $10.25 for it.

There are people who don't like gerunds?

Ah, JohnSweden is a man who adheres to tradition. I completely understand.

t whistling

don't pay me no mind, I'm just here to keep an ear out for spoilers for just how awful (and why) the Village is.

Nora -

The secret of The Village is that it's a rustic, pseudo-Amish community living in a nature preserve. The myth of the "creatures" is to keep people from wandering out into modern society. The "creatures" themselves are costumes worn by the adults of the Village.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Oh, dear. Sean, it sounds to me as if that plot was inspired by an episode of Scooby Doo or something.

heh. Heh! Thanks. Maybe I will see it. However, there are a zillion good movies I still need to see, so maybe not.

Signed, still have not seen Spiderman 2 or Harry Potter 3.

Or Hellboy. I suck!
