Wesley: All right. I'm going to let you all in on something you may have trouble comprehending. I assure you however-- Gunn: Vampires are real. Wesley: I was telling!

'The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco'

The Minearverse 3: The Network Is a Harsh Mistress

[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Guy #1: Man, there are so many hipsters around. I hate hipsters! Guy #2: You're at the wrong place. That's like going to Vegas only to say "I hate titties!" --The Warsaw, Williamsburg (OINY)

I liked it - more than I thought I would considering I can't watch CSI et. al because of the gore. LOVED Peter Coyote/Web - the BF said he wished the show was all about Web, and I kind of agreed at first - but Tim's comments about the fight for Rebecca's soul pinged me but good.

I don't love it (yet) - but there were a lot of things I really liked, I enjoyed watching it a great deal, and I am excited to see the next episode. I do like it more than I liked Firefly after "The Train Job" - but I think I would have liked FF more if I saw the pilot first.

The lighting/cinematography in general was beautiful - very X-Files/Millennium -ish (even more so than Angel -ish I think. The blipverts were the only stylistic thing that made me think of Angel ). The music at one point reminded me a LOT of Millennium. (I never really got into that show because it was just too depressing, and while I like Lance Hendriksen, Frank was very boring to me as a character. But I always thought it had a beautiful style.) And Mel is very Scully-ish to me.

I may have to seize the cat.

Yes, yes, yes!

Calli, I agree re: Web = CSM. I saw that as I was watching; someone (Danny? Paul?) wanted to know something about Web's history and if I'd been playing MST3K my comment totally would've been "Well I used to be CSM..."

All is well that ends in pizza.

I just played his scene. It is "Skyman."

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

I have a question about the ending of the episode -- how does everyone know where to go, and get there in time? Web and Paul show up pretty handily, but the baddie didn't need to get off there, did he? How was Danny to get from one station to the next in time to meet the same train?

They've been studying the Jack Bauer method.

And then Paul and Web both end up at the right station - maybe it was the end of the line, no other choices for the train. yeah, that works. (as long as you don't actually know the LA subway system).

Maybe if they hadn't have gotten off there, Web would have gotten on the train?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Maybe if they hadn't have gotten off there, Web would have gotten on the train?

Okay, that works for everything but the timing. Which is something.

Cindy! I will send you email this weekend. Promise.

Okay, that works for everything but the timing.

Okay, I just watched the end again. This may be stretching it, but Web leaves the group first and takes off, presumably to go up the stairs, but we never see that. Could he have doubled back and actually have gotten on the train in another car?

I have no idea how Paul got there as quickly as he did..

Oh, cool! I saw your reply in that lj. But I saw it in email. I deleted the message, and then I realized I couldn't remember whose journal it was in.

This isn't on topic, even a little, but I want to tell you that I love you for saying "hadn't have" instead of "hadn't of." That is all. /grammar nerd
