[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

I mean, it's only a month later -- but from here it feels like forever.

I had exactly the same reaction. See how quickly I went from "Yay, DVDs!" to "Whaddayemean January?" Then I went back to "Yay, DVDs!" for fear of spoiling the good karma. Or something like that.

Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who matter don't mind and those who mind don't matter.

Anyone remember getting excited about the fall TV lineup instead of the next great DVD release? How far they have fallen.

Certainly no fall lineup anticipation for me this year. It's funny. As recently as last year, there were some new shows of interest. I have a few returning shows that I would kind of like to see new episodes of, but nothing earthshattering.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I've totally gone over to the DVD sets. Aside from ME, I've invested in Homicide, Northern Exposure, Freaks and Geeks, Wonderfalls.

I'll probably get Carnivale and Deadwood when they come out.

I'm still anticipating Lost, if for no other reason than seeing how closely producers follow the real-life Survivor 7 example regarding Matthew Fox's clothes.

Mildly curious about Lost because of Dominic Monaghan (did I spell that right?). But the show itself doesn't look promising, so I'm conflicted.

I was fine when existence had no meaning. Meaninglessness in a universe that has no meaning -- that I get. But meaninglessness in a universe with meaning? What does that mean?

I saw the Lost pilot and liked it enough to want to watch more. Desperate Housewives is okay, too. I'm not excited about any other new shows, though, just a few returning ones (Gilmore Girls, The OC and Alias). And I'm more excited about the DVD release of Popular than about any of those.

Did I miss the Lost pilot? Or did you all see it elsewhere? I stop watching tv during the summer (except for F/X) so I miss a lot of stuff.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

So far, three shows look promising or at least not horrible.

Lost (because Fury) ABC

Life as We Know It (from the same people as Freaks and Geeks) ABC

Kevin Hill (I can't remember why I wrote this one down) UPN

Wolfram, nothing has premiered yet.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The lady who sat next to me on my flight to Montreal loved Lost. I love LA, because you get to sit next to people who will talk eagerly to you about a show you long to watch. It jibed with net stuff I'd watched -- and I now realise she'd spoiled me for something, and yay! I've forgotten what.
