[NAFDA] "There will be an occasional happy, so that it might be crushed under the boot of the writer." From Zorro to Angel (including Wonderfalls and The Inside), this is where Buffistas come to anoint themselves in the bloodbath.

Did I miss the Lost pilot? Or did you all see it elsewhere? I stop watching tv during the summer (except for F/X) so I miss a lot of stuff.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

So far, three shows look promising or at least not horrible.

Lost (because Fury) ABC

Life as We Know It (from the same people as Freaks and Geeks) ABC

Kevin Hill (I can't remember why I wrote this one down) UPN

Wolfram, nothing has premiered yet.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

The lady who sat next to me on my flight to Montreal loved Lost. I love LA, because you get to sit next to people who will talk eagerly to you about a show you long to watch. It jibed with net stuff I'd watched -- and I now realise she'd spoiled me for something, and yay! I've forgotten what.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Kevin Hill (I can't remember why I wrote this one down) UPN

Taye Diggs is a lawyer who inherits a baby. At least the promos have good production values...

I saw the Lost pilot, too. It was pretty good, but nothing exceptional. However, given the set-up, it probably should be a mini-series, cuz I don't see how it can't run out of gas after 3 or 4 episodes...it would just start repeating itself, and get boring, like Fastlane or 24. However, I'll probably watch anyway, cuz this fall's new programming looks pretty sad.

I also wanna check out: Desperate Housewives Clubhouse House Life as We Know It

And maybe: Kevin Hill Veronica Mars Second Time Around The Mountain Jack & Bobby Father of the Pride Drawn Together

But I will definitely be picking up Popular - Season One and Wonderfalls as soon as they come out on DVD. I didn't start watching Popular until toward the end of its first season (I caught the end of an ep waiting for something else to come on, and fell immediately in love with it), so many of the episodes will be new to me. For a show about judgment, I really misjudged it. Of course, it didn't help that The WB promoted the dark comedy/satire like it was Dawson's Creek, so I thought it was just another one of those crappy teen dramas. Co-Creator/Executive Producer Ryan Murphy has even commented on how The WB wanted the show to be more like Dawson's Creek, and how he has experienced so much more support from FX on Nip/Tuck. So I recommend Popular to everyone.

But, yeah, TV (at least broadcast) is in a pretty sad state right now.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I adored Popular. Was nice to see Leslie Bib on Nip/Tuck.

I'm guessing you missed her series Line Of Fire. Just as well. She wasn't very good on it, but I suspect the flaw started in the writing.

You know, we could experiment and cancel football.

I remember why I wrote down Kevin Hill now.

Christina Hendricks is in it. It looks silly but I will give it a few eps before giving up on it.

Our wings are not tired.

At least the promos have good production values...

So often I am confused as to why someone thought the promo would actually encourage me to see a show. Apparently most are not marketing to me.

I lost my satellite dish in a lighting storm this past weekend. It served to remind me that most of what I care to watch is distributed on DVD. I’ll still get it repaired, and the sound system that blew, but it was a reminder of how little I care about that is broadcast.

Art Crawl!!!

She wasn't good in Line of Fire -- but she was in Nip/Tuck.
