How much did I love that Angel had the foresight to draw up a reference letter for Harmony?
How much did I wonder why the hell he didn't just fucking put a stake in her, she's done?

I sort of saw Angel's treatment of Harmony as acknowledging that he hadn't really helped her. He'd given her a job, but he hadn't made her into a member of the MoG, and he hadn't had the time or means to really reform her. As for her "betraying" Angel - there's the possibility Harmony was lying about the details, or that she had to admit some information to get Hamilton to pay any attention to her at all. She's not very bright, and I could easily see her actions as more out of stupidity than malice. But in the end, she hadn't hurt him, even though she could have tried, and she did the best she was capable of as a soul-less vampire, so he bore her no ill-will. Still - I'd like to have seen her as a new head of W&H.
I thought Angel might have signed the paper "Angle" if he really cared about the Shanshu. It'd be a nice nod to the "Buffi&Angle4Evah!" crowd.
fans who didn't take to Connor (at least pre Origin), did his presence in the finale make the rest of his storyline worth your while?
Honestly, Cindy, I think it does. I never liked Connor, although I think it was more him that I didn't like, other than the storyline, but as a whole, he means much more to me after seeing the end result- what Angel did the things he did for.
Wrod, Polter-Cow. A toothpick, at least.
but when Angel told Eve that Lindsey wouldn't be coming for her, he seemed to say it with real weight.
This is what I meant to mention...Angel said that Lindsey wasn't coming for Eve like he knew it for a fact. And how could he know it (since he didn't know what was up with everyone else) unless he'd made sure Lindsey wasn't going to come back.
Also in the scheme of what Angel was trying to do killing Lindsey was pretty down there on the list of things for him to do personally. And I like the idea that Lindsey was so sure he and Angel would fight to the death and Angel was so busy with his own plans that he delegated out Lindsey's death.
And, DAMN, the name of tonight's ep -- "Not Fade Away."
Does the Shanshu thing mean that Spike gets the prize? Of course, he'd have to survive the fight. (God save me from the badfic on Spike's Shanshu.)
I actually thought it'd be more likely that Angel would have arranged for Harmony to get a soul and a shot at a shanshu than stake her. After all, she was human recently enough to miss it.
Well I won't back down
No I won't back down
You can stand me up at the gates of hell and I won't back down

I'm not so sure Angel could sign away the Shanshu if it's his destiny. Somehow "The House Always Wins" left me with the feeling that Angel would avert the Apocalypse and he would Shanshu, no ifs, ands or buts. It's Prophecy. Buffy found out the hard way that Prophecy happens. You can subvert it after the fact, but not before.
