'Not Fade Away'

You know -- in the 1600s when the Master turned her. I know it isn't surprising -- but I bet it was in Sweeps.
(Well, yeah, cause it was the same night as FFL -- but the William to Spike death probably doesn't count either -- even though that was in sweeps too.)
Hey -- so the origin stories of major vampires happen in sweeps too and also involve a death.
1) Her original death in the flashback
2) Drusilla sires Darla
3) Darla stakes self
4) Angel stakes Darla (on Buffy)
I was mostly thinking of the deaths that Joss gives us that make us think he's a sick bastard, and we're not healthy for loving them so. That's why, since we already knew that Angel and his brood had a death behind them, they didn't quite count as audience abuse.
Of course, not everyone stayed dead, but I was wondering about how often we were dealt that feeling of loss. Which flashback kinda obviates.
Darla's first death was really just filling in the details, but it didn't have the gut-wrenching HSQ factor to it.
Fred, Doyle, Cordy, and Wes.

...suddenly, all the Batman jokes make a lot more sense.
Wes hurt at the time but since it was the last ep, I never got to really feel that pain. There was a wound but no salt poured into it or anything.
I feel the same way, but it's funny. Since Wes spent so little time of the series dead (10-15 minutes?), it's easy to forget it happens. But it hits me now and then and makes me sad.
As overwraught as the Fred thing was, I bought into every second of it and cried like a big fat sap through 2 whole episodes. I wouldn't have minded Cordy's death much if she'd flat out died at the end of S4. Or S3. But You're Welcome (right?) brought back the very best Cordelia, making the revelation at the end allergy-inducing.
I'm wroding everyone who forgets that Wes is dead from time to time.

Heh. After watching The Avengers steadily with JZ for several months now, I've finally realized why England fell behind the States in the computer race besides having Babbage and Ada and Turing and all those homegrown geniuses. It's because Steed and Peel leave an apalling bodycount of Britain's Top Scientists, never saving a single one. An entire generation of Britain's best minds, lopped off while John and Emma were drinking champagne and toodling around the countryside.
Since Wes spent so little time of the series dead (10-15 minutes?), it's easy to forget it happens. But it hits me now and then and makes me sad.
