Yeah, I thought it was fairly well established that that WASN'T actually Angelus, any more than if I took a lot (I mean, a lot a lot) of acid and thought I was a wizard from Middle Earth, I'd actually be able to do spells.

It was Angelus, alright. But he wasn't at full strength. The drug knocked out the conscious mind of Angel and let Angelus take over the body to a great degree.
