Overwhelming? How much more than whelming would that be exactly?

Angel 5: Is That It? Am I Done?

[NAFDA] This is where we talk about the show! Anything that's aired in the US (including promos) is fair game. No spoilers though -- if you post one by accident, an admin will delete it.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

Am I the only one who interpreted "You won't last ten minutes" as a reference to his ability to fight while wounded, rather than "in ten minutes your wounds will kill you"? Because it seemed to be a "Stay out of this one, you're too hurt to fight" sort of thing.

That's how it seemed to me, too. In fact, in my head Illyria knocks Gunn out and shoves him off to one side, so he doesn't *try* to fight.

I've been working on a song about the difference between analogy and metaphor.

But I'm also pretty convinced he willingly surrendered it (or thought he did) and that's all that matters to me, in a finale like Not Fade Away.

As Buffy didn't kill Angel in "Becoming 2," but she thought she did. It's the choice that matters.

The evil is this way?

Secondly, Illyria did not hit on Gunn. She said he was "not unpleasant in her eyes" which in Illyria-speak means, I like him as a friend. It is an indication that she's beginning to accept that she's part of their merry group and she even likes being around them. But any non-platonic feelings she may have had at that moment were about Wesley, not Gunn.

Unless, some of her Fred-memories are of Gunn, as they were a couple.

What is even happening?

I was actually talking about someone else's "easy on the eyes" misquote. But maybe she was hitting on him, it just wasn't the impression I got.

I think that was my misquote, but all I said was, "I liked Illyria's comment to Gunn, about him being easy on the eyes." I didn't make any further comments or imply that she was hitting on him--just that I liked it. What was her actual quote (I wasn't trying to quote--just being gist-y), something about him not being unpleasant to her eyes?

eta...

Still, Narrator makes a good point.

I actually thought she was talking about his being mortally wounded. She started with, "You're fading ..." But, I like your interpretation better. So, perhaps I'll just go with it.

In Quotables, I quoted Illyria's line to Gunn as "Try not to die. You are not unpleasant to my eyes," which is what I heard on rewatch. (My parenthetical "truer words" is me talking about me, not a comment on Illyria hitting on Gunn, dontcha know). I actually think it was just a funny moment, regardless of whether there was actual flirtage. And I don't think that's what Wolfram is talking about, but I just wanted to clarify. Because ... I don't really know why.

I think it was not being unpleasant in her eyes. Which, IMO, is a world of difference from easy on the eyes. I guess I'm feeling a bit over-protective of my sweet, sweet Wesley. Le sigh.

Jessica, JenP's comment above is bringing to mind some of the lines that didn't make it from the script. Do you want to take this, or may/shall I?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm not sure exactly which lines you mean -- the end of the Wes/Illyria scene?

Anyway, go ahead.

I'm not qualified to discuss, but I REALLY LIKED:

"Do you want me to lie to you now?"

Kinda made me a little sniffly.

I like the Whedonverse.

All is well that ends in pizza.

I wasn't going to mention it, but since someone else did... Last night I came up with a way to integrate the next scene with the slayers coming to help.

My proposed "teaser" for Season 6, Episode one....

---- Angel Crew head off to do battle...

Suddenly, slayers pour in from out of nowhere, fighting. Willow arrives and a barrier forms around the Angel survivors.

Buffy and Willow come up to the Angel crew.

Buffy: "Got your message," She says "Glad you aren't evil."

Angel: "It's about time."

Andrew comes up, reloading his crossbow.

Andrew: "You guys ready? We still need the help. There's a dragon needs slaying, too."

Various nods, they're ready.

Illryia: "This one is not. He will not survive much longer without healing."

Willow: "Fred? What– You're right. I'll be right back."

Willow teleports Gunn to the hospital.

Buffy: "Where's Wes?"

Angel: "Dead."

Willow returns.

Angel picks up his sword, eyes the Dragon. He looks at the group.

Angel: "I believe I was about to slay a dragon. Time to get back to work. Everyone ready?"

All: "Ready."

Angel: "Willow, drop the barrier."

----------------

That's just me being completely fannish.

Loved the real ending, tho.
