I've now seen all the episodes.
Wow. They cancelled that? WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!?!

my sentiments exactly.
Wow. They cancelled that? WHAT THE FUCK WERE THEY THINKING!?!?!?!
"We don't want anything original on television, a show that asks the big questions, like why do we do the things we do, and is it sometimes necessary to take one step back before taking two steps forward, a show that treats homosexuality and interracial romance as no big deal, just another trait of human existence, a show that dares to have an unconventional visual style...no, no, we can't have that. Let's objectify women some more."
And to chime in on some hotly debated topics, I liked "Barrel Bear" quite a bit for its exploration of identity issues (Is your life null if it was a lie? Can you embrace a lie in order to make it true? Actually, that kind of fits in with Eric's and Jaye's dialogue at the end of "Caged Bird," where they realized they had to do the opposite of what they wanted in order to get what they wanted (dialogue that had many of you gagging, but I really liked). It's a topsy-turvy world, the Wonderverse. I wonder if Bryan and Todd and Tim are Gilbert and Sullivan fans. Now I'm imagining the animals singing G & S.) and for being really funny (the aforementioned metaphor line). I can see how it might be out-of-character, but it didn't bother me that much.
"Wound-Up Penguin" is still my least favorite, although it might be better on the rewatch since I love Aaron so much more now. It just didn't do much at all for me.
"Safety Canary" was kind of a mess, because it tried to say things about love that "Lovesick Ass" had just said much better, and the Jaye/Eric schmoopiness was awful and the breakup was pretty random. The animals didn't make her do that, did they? Wasn't that just Jaye being weird?
"Totem Mole" had some funny bits and some interesting notions, but it was mostly kind of eh. And that skull should not have been allowed to speak. I think that violated the laws of the Wonderverse. Unless it was a fake skull. And even then, it only scrapes by.
"Because you listen" gave me chills. And it's that kind of thing that really made me want to see another season. To explore the why of it all.
I'm too tired to talk about why I specifically liked all the other episodes. Maybe later.
Someone please help. This week's EW talks about the missing Wonderfalls. All is good until they say:
Sharon ends up pregnant, setting up a "miracle birth" in season 2.
WTF????
Who wrote the article, ita?
Mandi Bierly. She's got quotes like "mend what is broken" and "save him from her" -- it's a reasonable summary/teaser of unaired eps. Except for that part.
Sounds more like she got her fanfic license and decided to take it for a spin...
...except that sound like a moving violation. At the very least a fix-it ticket.
must've been one of those unaired eps that only aired in her head.
