"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

I'm gonna be ready soon to rank my fave episodes from least to most, or vice versa. Interestingly I have as much competition for least as I do for most.

What did happen to the girlfriend of Sharon?

And, given that Jaye teases Sharon about hitting on a member of CLAW and using the Republican Party as a dyke dating service in Barrel Bear I'm confused. Are they still together or not? Barrel Bear seems so out of order EVERYWHERE. I mean, after Crime Dog? It could work. But anywhere else? NSM.

Also, the one continuity thing that BUGGED was the weather. The tanktops while watching Eric install the satellite dish during Lovesick Ass followed by the snow of Caged Bird makes me shake my head. Or wonder EXACTLY how much time passed.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

I know this is probably super controversial, but I can't see how there would have been a second season of Wonderfalls.

I think maybe the squick of Mahandra/Aaron may have caused a rift, and the second season could arc out her friendships. Or Jaye trying to decide on career possibilities that would take her away from Niagara and her family, which is more interesting, I think. Job in NYC and an end to that inertia, or Wonderfalls and her friends/family/Eric?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

In my head, post-Crime Dog is too late for Barrell Bear. Or too early. Jaye's way too perky for Eric to be that early in his attempt to hit on her.

Or maybe that's who he was trying to date. But mostly I chalk it up to sloppy episode, with no real overarching function.

Barrel Bear was Wonderfalls on the bad crack.

Okay.. Barrel Bear, better or worse than Safety Canary?

And she was doing the dance of the mid-20's... with the I like you, don't I like you, I won't tell you I like you shit going on.

Yes. Which is why, after I mulled, I decided to give Eric a break. Yeah, he was a cruel ass. But she was playing games with his heart. Or something else that isn't the title of a Backstreet Boys song. And, fuck, if it isn't stuck in my head already.

DUDE! You MARRIED the woman! Now you're going to be annoyed by those things that made you want her?

Yes. Though I think that's kind of realistic. Most of the relationships I've been witness to have had that bizarre, "Oh I love you. You're so perfect. Or, at least, you will be once I grind you down to a pulp and then build you back up again in the image I think you should be."

Jaye's relationship with Sharon is my favorite dynamic

I loved the family dynamic. That sense of "we're all insane and we fight like hell amongst ourselves but outsiders shouldn't mess with us." I loved the Mahandra-Jaye friendship. I even liked the Mahandra-Aaron romance, once I got past the thoroughly random hookup issue. But I still have a sort of love/hate thing going on with the Eric-Jaye of it all. Except not as strong as love or hate.

I'm glad that they ended up together. I'm just not so sure I would want to see them together. Which leads to...

I know this is probably super controversial, but I can't see how there would have been a second season of Wonderfalls.

I don't think it's super controversial. But maybe that's because I'm with you. I mean, I can see how there could be a second season but I'm not sure if it would be quite the same show. And I don't know that I would have watched. Especially if it had gone on without that one dude.

I'm sad that it was cancelled but I kind of like the completeness of the 13. I fear it could have only gone downhill from there.

Safety Canary had a point. Stuff happened, that counted in subsequent episodes.

I think he'd have settled for open or honest. Or vaguely reasonable.

Nope. I think he wanted her all insane and irrational. He thought it was exciting. But he wanted all that and a guarantee, too.

When, post-kiss, did he ask her for more than an explanation of her feelings?
