They should film that story and show it every Christmas.

Wait, is this real-world child support, where the money goes to buy food for the kids, or MRA fantasyland child support where the women just buy Ferraris and cocaine? -Jessica

"So you're saying I'm delicious?"

Contemplating new tagline.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Eric knew what he was getting into from the start

No, no I think he didn't.

Jaye's erraticness as prompted by the tchotchkes is one thing. But that erraticness was also incrementally affecting her behaviour, and not all for the best. She uncrusted a lot wrt her family, but they were tearing her apart wrt him, and the stress of that made her act unpromptedly oddly.

He spent a lot of time watching her go "Oh, Eric, I need to ... never mind."

He might be in love with her, but I can see him deciding it's not working out.

I think he did a reasonable thing, in a bad way.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Yeah, I don't know that I agree with ita since I slept through a lot of the rewatch.

I definitely think there was a lot of stick it to her going on.

But Jaye IS CRAZY. And she was doing the dance of the mid-20's... with the I like you, don't I like you, I won't tell you I like you shit going on. But Eric was cruel. Asking her where the wedding chapel was when he remarried Heidi? So freakin' mean.

In the finale, the ambulance scene made me laugh so freakin' hard. Every. Time. It's because It's rough, it's harsh and it's really really shocking.

I also realized my favorite parts of Wonderfalls, the strongest episodes and the strongest bits revolve around the family dynamic. The weakest parts are the Eric parts.

I wanted a happy ending, and I wasn't sure I was going to get one.

Eric knew what he was getting into from the start, and given Heidi, Eric really shouldn't be on Jaye's nut so much.

See, this is the argument I was using. But it is true that by Brass Monkey she was batshit crazy.

Jaye's relationship with Sharon is my favorite dynamic, but that might be colored by how fantastic the actress is in the role. Everytime she's onscreen I am made happy.

Oh, I think she was obviously mental from, "Your ass is ringing," on.

And the things that made the fireworks set off in his eyes were her crazy bits.

This made me laugh, for I do this in my 30s more than I did it in my 20s.

Eric really shouldn't be on Jaye's nut so much.

But he wasn't on her nut. He was passive-aggressively trying to find out if he should really ditch Heidi for her (Heidi must really be blind/cold/needy to have stayed as long as she did, for more than one reason) pretty much the whole time. But not really on her nut.

And even if she kept being the girl he met in the pilot, I wouldn't hold it against him for realising that what he thought was cute was really dementia, and backing away. But she didn't stay being her. She got both nicer and crazier.

See, I thought that could be quirky and tangential. I think she unfrayed much more plus demonstrated an unrelenting pattern.

You know what it's like? I always hated Desi for being annoyed by Lucy.

DUDE! You MARRIED the woman! Now you're going to be annoyed by those things that made you want her?

And what was Eric's ish? That he wanted her to commit, I think, right? He wanted her to write him a note with a heart over the "i" in Eric, "I like you, do you like me? Check one: [yes] [no]."

This is definitely true. As is Jaye's relationship with Aaron. I like how right the ganging up on Sharon worked in the 3 sibling family. Mean, but funny as hell.

Also, I loved Jaye's parents.

I know this is probably super controversial, but I can't see how there would have been a second season of Wonderfalls. I really enjoyed the arc and I'm glad it felt finished (I too want my closure!) But if there had been a second season, what would it have been? I mean, on the Jaye and Eric arc. Would they have broken up and gotten back together to break up again?

The thing about romantic comedies where the couples don't start the narrative encoupled (a la Mad About You), the getting them together is the good bit. The together/apart/together is just lame because you end up with a soap opera.

I'm glad Jaye and Eric had a very big kiss. I'm glad that they seemed on their way to togetherhood (with the definite possibility of breakuphood on the horizon). But I'm also glad I didn't have to watch them do that dance again and again.

I do want to know how Mahandra and Aaron shake out, with the big kiss outside the store, and the look of shock and possibly horror on Jaye's face. I liked that Karen didn't seem to be freaked out at the prospect of Mahandra and Aaron encoupled, and that she smiled. I miss that story line more (at least as far as romantic storylines go).

That he wanted her to commit, I think, right?

I think he'd have settled for open or honest. Or vaguely reasonable. She wasn't any of those.

And Eric didn't marry Jaye. He was trying not to choose her.

I want to know about Sharon and her girlfriend too! What happened with Poor Bitch?
