Jayne: Captain, can you stop her from bein' cheerful, please? Mal: I don't believe there is a power in the 'verse that can stop Kaylee from being cheerful. Sometimes you just wanna duct tape her mouth and dump her in the hold for a month.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

For myself I'd rather wait until June 1 because of discussion fatigue.

  • First, I'm not ready to pass judgment on the threads after only 18 days--(e.g. I've been too busy at work to keep up and would just go whitefont all the time with how I've been able to keep up with dramas).
  • Second, we JUST had a whole thing where we voted and everything and I'm not looking forward to rehashing merely a few weeks later. Not ready to fight yet.
  • Third, I'm worried that this long lead time until June 1 will favor the preferences of people who have the stomach to hash this out for two weeks.

I don't want to police the discussion, just want to persuade people that making all these evaluations, proposals, voting, hurt feelings and all that is way too soon. We have a moratorium for partly the same reason. Consensus here often changes based on how people "feel" the discussion is going, and there are too many factors at play to make that truly represent the will of the people in this context.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

bon makes a lot of sense. I would not be averse to tabling this discussion until June 1.

In the American sense, that is.

Allright, everyone back to your TVs!

bon bon does make a lot of sense, brenda. So do you. Mmmm. TV.

brillig

I am not persuaded of the validity of some of the points brought up, but I accept the prevailing desire for delay. I formally rescind the proposal.

And just may be lurking on May 31st, at 11:59 PM board time out of a sense of sheer perversity.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

I'm surprised that it's been 18 days before we actually did get into a discussion about the threads, so I'm not sure discussion fatigue will actually happen. Really, at this point, given the contraints of the proposal, much more than stray thoughts and impressions seems unlikely, with the exception of the nonfic thread. I'm pleased that it's working so well and looking forward to using it when Top Chef comes back this summer.

I wonder about Cable Drama. I did before the experimentals were created, too. It's the core of the reason why I wanted to expand the use of the Premium thread--first of all, Premium doesn't get a whole lot of traffic generally, which is not to say that I don't think it works in its own capacity. And second of all, shows like the Riches and Nip/Tuck, I maintain, are similar thematically enough that there's a cross there I feel could be used and explored further.

The number of shows on cable that are new and have seasons are minimal when compared with those of the Networks, and it seems like our desire to talk about those shows pares the list down further. So I am wondering if my original thoughts about augmenting Premium are still useful.

Which obviously is not meant to be a proposal, and is more connected thoughts from pre-experimental with the present.

Heh. I'ma laugh my ass off (and maybe cry a little) if we end up back there after all of this.

(Not that I'm opposed, mind. I personally think it might not be a bad idea. But still.)

Art Crawl!!!

Everytime I see an ad for Rescue Me I think about how much fun it's going to be to talk about it in the Exp Cable Drama thread and then I remember that they're gone in June and get sad.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Everytime I see an ad for Rescue Me I think about how much fun it's going to be to talk about it in the Exp Cable Drama thread and then I remember that they're gone in June and get sad.

I feel the same way about The Closer.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I will certainly be up for discussing both those shows!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

For what it's worth, I don't think Supernatural can or will support its own thread. I know there's a burst of SPN dedicated posts occasionally, but with the "start" and "end" posts, disinterested people can avoid them. Realistically, though they may annoy some, there aren't enough posts to support a thread.
