A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

I think we're moratorium-precluded from futching with the experimental threads. I think they have to close.
After June 1, I think people are free to propose what they want. I would hope to see something more refined than four buckets. I think we're starting to get an idea of what's working for us, but that's up to the proposers.
If it's a question of gathering more data and waiting for the formal end of the experiment, are there actually expected to be any new developments that will change the opinions that have evolved thus far?
I agree that Non-Fiction seems to be working the best out of the Experimental threads. It's taken a lot of white font out of Natter, plus I'm in favor of anything that gets kat perez to post more.
It's a question of honoring the original proposal which is what people voted in, and which said we'd discuss all this
after
the threads closed on June 1. If people thought this was going to happen, some who voted in favor of the experiment might have voted it down, for all I know.
What's the rush, anyhow? The season is over for just about every (regularly scheduled) show. Traffic slows down here over the summer, and during re-run season.
We voted to discuss it after June 1.
Ah, hadn't realised that. One thing -- if we go back into discussion, aren't we risking loosing the results of the experiment? Meaning, if we swap everything around and it gets re-proposed, I'm not sure the vote will reflect something that's been trialed. In my mind, it should go straight back to voting June 1st based on people's experiences.
The reason that I'd like to see a decision before they close is that a number of new seasons start right as they close. One of those is Ghost Hunters which I would like to discuss.

I understand that, but it's a shame that it didn't come up (please, this is not a jab) during the discussion of the proposal.
What was voted for was voted for. Hindsight doesn't change that.

Who said it had to? The experiment was to gather data. Not an explicit prototype.
Once June 1 hits, I fully expect that keeping the Non-fic thread as is will be up for discussion pretty much immediately. It does seem to be churning along quite well. Given that, if it's re-proposed after June 1, I think we can handle relocating the discussion to Natter for a week.
This is just an opinion, but I would really not like to see a straight up "all four threads as is" proposal. At the very least, I'd like everyone to have the opportunity to chime in on their likes and dislikes about the threads individually. And to see if any new ideas are perculating. With non-fic, it feels like we might have hit the solution. With the others, I'd hate to close things out too early or in a way that leaves people feeling unheard. That's sort of how we got here in the first place.
