A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

Sean, while I see us saying this over and over the reality is that I kinda gave up hope of actually being able to discuss TV here in any way quite a while ago. I was able to do it with the single show Buffy and Angel threads back in the day, but I just can't do the bucket threads.
Folks are asking what shows would be single threads? For me that would be BSG (I know, currently on hiatus, but I would have loved to have talked about the past season when it was airing), Bones, Numb3rs Dresden Files. The reason? Well, those are the shows that I'm currently watching.
If we're talking about a trial thread why don't we focus on the original issue of putting the F/X short-season, original programming shows in Premium? Or maybe I don't understand what exactly it is we're supposed to be testing.
I really can't see one huge general drama thread working. That just becomes tv natter and I'd rather just keep it in natter at that point.
For me, Lost and Heroes are examples of show threads working.
I can see the argument against them, of course, and it's a strong one. Were Buffy, Angel and Firefly all the same topic originally?
At first there was no Angel. Then we started a separate thread for Angel (at Table Talk).
So, no. They were always individual threads.
I find this whole thing a little distressing because, as people have pointed out, there's no way to make everyone happy. And I don't want people like Liese to be unhappy.
Suggestion for single-show-threadistas feeling disenfranchised: PROPOSE THE THREADS YOU WANT.
Seriously. Chances are, you'll get them - look at how similar proposals have have gone in the past. Their existence will annoy a bunch of people, but probably not more than you're all annoyed by Boxed Set right now, so what's the risk?
Maybe I'm misreading the tone of the conversation here, but I see a pattern developing of bucket-thread advocates on the one hand suggesting possible workable thread structures, and single-show advocates popping up twice a day to remind the rest of us how lonely and disenfranchised you are. Faux democracy? How is counting votes and going with what the majority wants "faux" democratic in any way? It doesn't take much to get a proposal on the table. Anyone can do it.
Dana, it's just a case of finding a happy medium. Personally, right now I think individual topics for things like Heroes should be kept for the larger shows, and another thread or two trialled in ways suggested (Drama, whatever).
Jess, in fairness most of the people who've given that opinion have actually listed shows they'd like to see threads of.

They have to actually *propose* the creation of the thread (or threads), though. A person can't just list threads they'd like to see, and wait for the stompies to create them.
Otherwise we'd have threads like What I'm Having For Lunch, and My Cat Is Sooooo Fucking CUTE, and Why Is Someone As Hott As Me Still Single?
Bitches is a bucket thread in disguise!
Otherwise we'd have threads like What I'm Having For Lunch
Seconded!
A happy medium will (theoretically) make most people happy. Not everyone. There is no way to make everyone happy. I mean, I've been trying to figure out a solution while sitting in my car at stoplights, and I can't think of one.
As far as whitefont goes, we have several models, don't we? Natter is whitefont current season. Boxed Set is blackfont as soon as the shows air. Movies is whitefont on a two-week delay, and Other Media is (I think) a one-week delay. Spoilers Lite is all whitefont.
