Art Crawl!!!

I think that we must.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

[This is in reference to the discussion in Minearverse.]

I think we're getting tied up in the wrong issue. Whether the promos were written and edited by the Drive team, ok, I'll assume that's the case. But Juliebird had no reason to think that-- that's where the discussion of whether that's a standard practice or not came in. And so I don't think it's fair to tell her to "move along" if she doesn't like the promos, especially given that we've criticized promos for all shows, even Minear shows, in the past. It comes off like she can't post here if she's not in love with Drive already. If criticism of the show is going to be presumed to be a hurtful, uncivil post that warrants a slap-down, then I'll probably avoid watching the show.

Allyson, I love you, I know your heart is in the right place, but I reacted strongly to the idea of reserving the right to go mental on another poster. I don't think we should be able to do that here.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Allyson's language was curt, but I don't see why the idea that if you don't like the promo then you won't like the show is one that can't be expressed, whether or not it's true. It's just as valid a Minearverse post as saying you don't like the show, isn't it?

The subtext you got isn't the subtext I got at all, not from that post.

I know where Allyson's coming from, and I know where her longer post is coming from, but I read it as "I'll go nuts if you go ad hominem."

I don't think there's anything wrong with saying that. I didn't read the comment "move along" that way.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Those of us who aren't subbed to the Minearverse thread could be helped with a link to where the discussion started. Bon bon, are you bringing up a matter for action, or trying to spark a discussion of community standards?

You read it as move along from the thread? I read it as move along from the show.

The post I am talking about is here: Juliebird "The Minearverse 5: Closer to the Earth, Further from the Ax" Jan 30, 2007 5:51:52 pm PST

This is really boards-on-boards and I wanted to move here to avoid disrupting the Minearverse thread.

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

I read move along as ita did.

It's difficult, because I'm not sure Allyson had us (whatever that means) in mind. I think she had visions of brand new non-buffista Spuffist types. Since there aren't any of those yet, some of us who are here felt it directed at us.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

I read move along as ita did.

Same here.

Move along from the thread or move along from the show-- both are dismissive, and given that once Drive airs the thread is going to be about the show, not necessarily distinguishable. I don't think we should start dismissing posters who have criticism of the show.

Which is not to say that if someone simply comes to b.org just to criticize or attack other posters, not to contribute, that they shouldn't be dismissed. But Julie's not that person.
