Ah, yes, of course. The gypsies, they gave you your soul. The gypsies are filthy people. Ptui! We shall speak of them no more.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Two points of reference:

1) Everybody should recruit a real, live older sister to the board, to verify one's existence. (Sister should not live someplace like Montana.)

2) You all remember that one time, back in like 2002, when a friend of mine didn't hear back from me via email (I was on a road trip) and looked up the Buffistas admins and emailed them to find out whether I was dead?

The Stompies were gracious and merely forwarded the email to me. But, it's funny in retrospect that one internet friend (whom I had met in person) emailed my other internet friends (whom I'd also met at that point) to verify my continuing state of livingness.

(Not that I had claimed I was dead.)

(I returned her email, sheepish, a week later.)

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

What about us is not solid, Cindy?

Heh. When some of my Internet friends thought I might have died in the tsunami, they tracked down my home phone number from a college website and left a message on our answering machine, I guess in case someone was checking.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

What I'm not feeling solid about is us.

Could you elaborate, Cindy?

Because books.

What I'm not feeling solid about is us.

How come?

Compassionately intolerant

It's funny, but in talking this experience over with a rl friend who has similar interests and such, I said that the one thing I am secure about is the structure and integrity of the group. Even with the dissent and wildly varying degrees of input/emotional involvement, the group itself seems solid as a rock. t /ashford and simpson.

What feels unstable Cindy?

Also, it never occured to me that Fela wouldn't come here to say that I had passed...but the other rl friend said that she has no idea what her spouse does on the 'net and it wouldn't remotely occur to her.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Sure, but would we belive the Fella without an obit and a death certificate? He could be anybody.

Good news! Looks like there is a Social Security index of deaths in the nation. Oh joy! Now we can know at all times who is dead and who is not. The bad news is that we'll have to wait a couple of months to use it as it does not update instantly. How terribly insensitive of them!

What is even happening?

Pretty sure I don't have to elaborate, now.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Yeah, at this point, Trudy, if your aim is to make us feel as bad as you feel, then you're succeeding, at least for me.

Sure, but would we belive the Fella

That is a fair question, under the circumstances.

But I'm thinking that, given that at least a few Buffistas have seen me in real life, if ever so briefly...and that I do have a pretty solid footprint on the web...and that, even though I have no blood family, my friend family would make mention of it in a variety of places, if anyone cared to, it could be confirmed.

The Great Peace March site alone would be ablaze with it.

But, you make a good point. I'm adding a request in my will that one of those classified ads in the Post be printed. ::puts money away for that now::
