Buffy: So how'd she get away with the bad mojo stuff? Anya: Giles sold it to her. Giles: Well, I didn't know it was her. I mean, how could I? If it's any consolation, I may have overcharged her.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Yeah, I was getting them, too. I just set it so that it didn't send me e-mail anymore. It's not like we use the list anymore.

We've been getting more and more spam on the b.org addresses, too.

eta:

What is the Buffistas yahoo list?

It's the old Yahoo group jengod set up back when we were on TT for use when TT crashed.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Hey, I have a dumb question. Is there a reason why Boxed Set is not NAFDA?

As the default, unwhitefonted post-show discussion thread for a number of ongoing shows, it would seem to be, sometimes at least, the equivalent of a show-thread like Veronica Mars or Lost. But those threads are NAFDA and Boxed Set is not.

Not doubting the designation; certainly there hasn't been much chafing about that of late. Just curious.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I don't think it's not NAFDA so much as it's not labelled NAFDA. The practice is identical, no? Hell, Bitches is NAFDA.

I know we went through this at some point. Was it because we allow people to whitefont stuff that has been shown prior to being released in the States?

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Possibly... Canadians had advance viewing of the second halves of SG-1, Aquarium, and maybe BSG (I forget), and Britons had Dr. Who way before it became torrentable. There'd be a whole lot of spoilage if whitefont weren't used.

I can't even.

Negatory on the BSG (we're late, just started S2), but we do get the Doctor early. Course, I am talking via my butt-hat, since I don't visit Boxed Set at all. Would love the insight/discussion, can't stand the spoileradiation.

This would make sense. Since Talk But With Whitefont is in effect for international show-situations in Boxed Set, that makes it more like daily tv talk in Natter, which is also not NAFDA.

I just couldn't remember the distinction.

Calling out Bitches as NAFDA was meant to illustrate that being a show thread and being NAFDA weren't related.

Hmm. I don't recall this at all.

Does its current status and description cause any problems? Leaving it as is or NAFDA with whitefont--either seems fine to me. This way round, there's a little less linking.

Gotcha.

Here's what it says in the FAQ:

Q. NAFDA? Is that an international Buffista treaty?

A. Ummm..... No. It's the North American Free Discussion Area. We have many posters who aren't from North America and are therefore half a season or more behind. In order to keep them unspoiled, we limit discussion of current episodes to specific threads. These are the NAFDA threads. If it's not labeled as a NAFDA thread, don't talk about current episodes in it. We also ask that you don't discuss one show's current season in another show's topic without whitefont, because some people are on tape delay. This means that events from the current season of Buffy should be whitefonted in the Angel topic and vice versa.

First off, we probably ought to update the definition since it's very Buffy and Angel centric. Second, I think Boxed set probably ought to be NAFDA. I checked back, and both the Farscape and the Smallville threads were NAFDA back when they were separate.

We will have an updated FAQ for review by the community next week.

NO, REALLY. I SWEAR!
