This is not funny. This... this is a morality tale about the evils of sake.

Our wings are not tired.

I don't see why the person couldn't drop a note to the vote counter in advance. Absentee voting makes sense.

Absentee voting makes sense.

Says the woman from Florida.

(oh, come on... someone was gonna go there)

Also, I'd think that could be allowable. I mean, it'd still be one vote/one Buffista.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I only see a problem with that if the ballot was somehow very complicated. I don't know that that's a real concern, the ballots I can remember have been clear and straightforward.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

The only theoretical problem (which I don't think will apply in this case) is that the wording of the ballot is not finalized until just before voting starts.

As long as the note to the vote counter is clear how the voter would fill out the ballot, however it's worded, that shouldn't be a problem. I'm inclined to leave that to the vote counter's discretion.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Okay, I think I'd like to make a proposal for a vote after this one, and either it flies or it doesn't....

I'm not anti-proliferation per se, but it seems to me that any time before the second season of a show has started, and shown it can continue to generate interested posts from Buffista viewers, is just too soon to actually create a thread, no matter how shiny some group of us think it is early on.

To that end, I think I would propose that no new show thread can be suggested and voted upon until ten episodes into its second season. (And as they've both proven capable of creating non-starters, I'm inclined to include even Joss and Tim shows in there, but I'm not married to that part of the proposal).

Now, I misremember, is it too soon to propose while another discussion is going on? If so, I can withdraw the proposal for the moment.

Otherwise, any seconds?

Sean, by that criteria Firefly never would have gotten a thread.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think we have to wait until after the current vote has ended, but I'll second in advance.

Yeah, I know. Like I said, I'm willing to write in an exception for Tim and Joss, but my inclination is to start without it.

I just think there's been a little too much OOOH, SHINY NEW SHOW, and already, we've started to see shows where the second seson, even if good, just doesn't generate the excited volume of the first season.

I think in the long run, this may rein in some of the One Season Wonder effect, that I think threatens to leave us with a bunch of half-cared about bastard threads. I'm curious to see if the second season of Lost will continue to generate the heat it did last season.

If it doesn't fly, it doesn't fly. It's not actually a personal crusade of mine, just an attempt at a possibly helpful suggestion.
