Well, other bands know more than three chords. Your professional bands can play up to six, sometimes seven, completely different chords.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Kat, I don't think it's about you. I don't think you're the problem or the issue at all. I think you don't like thead titles though. That was the opinion you expressed. I've never seen you espouse anything in here except a meta non-title. I used your name because I was responding to your opinion. Did I need to quote you specifically? Because it did seem clear that you disliked the names altogether. I don't think that's a misrepresentation.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

There's a secret bitch cabal? Damn. I'm always the last to know.

I think that thread naming is getting boring, mostly, and for that reason I'd be happy with numbers or randomly-generated names. But I would disagree that the thread-naming process itself has gotten too contentious to do. (I think the people who objected to "Older than Jesus" did so in a calm way.)

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Yes. I can see how my choice of preference of Older Than Jesus is a meta non title, or that it shows my lack of preference for "real" names. Ditto my statedsupport of 33 1/3. So I'm the wrong strawman to look for.

But then again, whatever.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

The next time we come up with a title I find disrespectful, annoying , irritating (I'm looking at you, combo Buffy/Angel thread) I'll be sure to put the kaibosh on it.

I think there's a difference between disrespectful and annoying. Personally, I tend to be rather irreverent about religion, so I think that the Jesus titles are funny. However, I completely respect and understand that some people find them offensive, and therefore suggest that we not use them (I typed "sue them". heh. subconscious lawyering)

randomly-generated names.

we could pick a random time (say 3:15) and name the thread using the quote that appears at that time. Not the exact quote, per se, but that's the basis. Or something else.

What is even happening?

Aw, man. I'm sorry this started a thing. I just wanted to express my opinion. I don't tend to worry about doing that when it is negative, any more than I do about expressing my pleasure. It's easier than back-channeling. Sorry, Buffistas.

Cindy, I don't think you have anything to apologize for.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Ditto, Cindy. Religion is a delicate topic, and it's hard to scroll through thread titles.

Kristen - Mar 24, 2005 6:24:31 am PST #4137 of 10001

I have to confess. I don't get why the phrase "Older than Jesus" is considered disrespectful or offensive. The nailing one, yes. But the age thing I just don't understand.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

FWIW, I still like pithy, clever, show-offy thread names, even the pop culture ones DH has to explain to me because of the large gaps in my musical and cinematic knowledge. Which is why I really liked the "more worlds to conquer" option, because I had to explain it to him, and it's fun to be the one who gets to show off on occasion. Oh well. Water under the bridge.
