'Get It Done'

Bureaucracy 3: Oh, so now you want to be part of the SOLUTION?

A thread to discuss naming threads, board policy, new thread suggestions, and anything else that has to do with board administration and maintenance. Guaranteed to include lively debate and polls. Natter discouraged, but not deleted.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

There will (most likely) still be a vote - and there will be the opportunity to vote down any or all threads that come up to vote at that time. I see this as more of a way to get rid of some of the clutter before we get that far - discard the shows that we don't see much real interest in, but assuming there is interest in some of them, those show threads would then come up for a vote. At which point any of us are free to vote no.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

What Brenda said. The actual ballot would work like the other thread-creating ballots we've had. Once the poll results are in, Lyra Jane (or anyone, really) can propose an up or down vote on each thread she thinks is worth voting on.

I'm sorry if the feeling is I didn't solicit enough feedback on the poll -- it seemed to me like not many people were commenting in Lightbulb, so I just went with my draft.

No, no, I didn't mean to imply that at all. I know how difficult it is to please everyone, especially when you're waiting for feedback in resounding silence. I should have read the LB discussion more carefully before carelessly questioning the poll. I'm the one who's sorry.

This. I'll have to see the results before I can be more specific, Cindy.

What is even happening?

Okee dokee. Thanks again, Lyra.

No problem.

I would love to have a specific mathematical formula in mind for counting ballots that include both "no new threads" and two shows vs. ballots that contain only "no new threads," and votes for "no new threads" vs. votes for each specific thread, but the truth is, my brain isn't that mathy, and I'd rather not make this any more agonizing than it already is.

What I can say is that if "no new threads" turns out to be the top choice, I'm not likely to propose show-specific threads, though of course someone else could.

Art Crawl!!!

I'm having trouble choosing which shows. I mean, I like both Alias AND Jack and Bobby -- but they're on at the same time.

Also -- if we vote for 3 does that mean we can still whitefont the others in Natter?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

if we vote for 3 does that mean we can still whitefont the others in Natter?

Judging by past threading, I don't see why not. Hell, there may very well still be whitefont discussion of shows with threads in Natter, unless we explicitly make it not so.

I know what you mean, but I don't think that is necessary.

Example:

100 people respond to the poll.

75 choose Veronica Mars, 50 choose Lost, and 40 choose Alias (all other shows are chosen less frequently).

If 60 people indicate that they do not want any new threads, it doesn't really matter if all 60 who select "no new threads" are among those 75 who choose Veronica Mars.

We still know that 60 people out of 100 do not want any new threads, at all. Right? In that case, I would think you'd have your answer, and would not propose new threads.

Of course. I'm not at all interested in stopping discussion, here. As ita said, even if we ended up with new threads, Natter would be the same as always.

Right? In that case, I would think you'd have your answer, and would not propose new threads.

Actually, in that case I would probably propose a Veronica Mars thread, because more people want that than want no new threads at all, and it could still be voted down. But yes, you have the general idea.
