Sorry, back to voting:

If I want no new threads but want a say in any thread we might get, then how do I vote?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Then you pick no new threads and the shows you'd vote for. I'm figuring there'll be some sort of subtraction performed to make sure you don't actually count towards the creating of new threads period, just that if they fly, you want to have a say in which ones.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Have we ever hammered out a policy on quoting from the board? Proper citation?

Pretty much. It's understood this is a public board, but acknowledgement of who and where is considered polite.

If I want no new threads but want a say in any thread we might get, then how do I vote?

I might interpret this as: No New threads! And The Seth is Mine and I'm willing to explain why.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

I might interpret this as: No New threads! And The Seth is Mine and I'm willing to explain why.

So we have a title for The O.C. thread now, don't we.

And yet. you'd be wrong in your interpretation. Not that I need to explain how I voted, but it's kind of fun to point out the wrongness.

What is even happening?

If I want no new threads but want a say in any thread we might get, then how do I vote?

LJ, Kat asked something I was wondering about. This is just a poll to see which, if any shows, Buffistas are interested in posting about.

When the results are tabulated, how are you going to construct the ballot? Will the people who want no new threads still get to enter that as a vote, somehow? I think I got confused, because the "no new threads" was on the poll, which I didn't expect. I thought that would be on the ballot. Also? I have a head cold which has moved to my chest, but not evacuated my head, and which is in the process of killing me, so I'm even more easily confused than usual (and probably more confusing, too).

Um...I hope I don't sound as foggy as I feel. Let me take this to example-ville. Let's say the poll results tell us that Lost, Veronica Mars, and Alias are the top three shows people most want to discuss, here.

What would the ballot look like? Will people still get to vote against any new threads, or only for one thread, or what?

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

There will (most likely) still be a vote - and there will be the opportunity to vote down any or all threads that come up to vote at that time. I see this as more of a way to get rid of some of the clutter before we get that far - discard the shows that we don't see much real interest in, but assuming there is interest in some of them, those show threads would then come up for a vote. At which point any of us are free to vote no.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

What Brenda said. The actual ballot would work like the other thread-creating ballots we've had. Once the poll results are in, Lyra Jane (or anyone, really) can propose an up or down vote on each thread she thinks is worth voting on.

I'm sorry if the feeling is I didn't solicit enough feedback on the poll -- it seemed to me like not many people were commenting in Lightbulb, so I just went with my draft.

No, no, I didn't mean to imply that at all. I know how difficult it is to please everyone, especially when you're waiting for feedback in resounding silence. I should have read the LB discussion more carefully before carelessly questioning the poll. I'm the one who's sorry.

This. I'll have to see the results before I can be more specific, Cindy.
