Well, I recall someone proposed making Lost one of the shows that we'd talk about in Boxed Set. It doesn't much matter to me where the discussion takes place, but I thought I'd bring it up and see if people thought it was a good idea.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Now we're in a situation where on some nights the TV talk is taking over Natter, so maybe it is time for a TV thread.

I was thinking that, too. Granted, even in the TV thread the discussion would probably have to be whitefonted for the most current eps. But that fact -- the whitefonting -- is no different from what's happening in Natter now. It would just be diverted into its own thread.

And it is kind of annoying. Like DX, I don't have strong feelings about it, but all the TV posts do take over Natter on some nights -- and The O.C. hasn't even started yet. I expect pages of whitefont when it does.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

I wouldn't mind a TV thread. I'm all sucked into Lost, already. I'd like to have somewhere to discuss it. As it is, my need leaks into Bitches. I don't think the few of us who've nattered about it have been too annoying, but I'd like to be able to discuss it more in depth. Also, I'm still watching Nip/Tuck like the great train wreck that it is and wouldn't mind somewhere to talk about that one, too.

Up with the sun

I'm all for a TV thread, possibly more than one.

Idea: What if we did a (nonbinding) poll to see what shows people are watching/plan to watch/would like to discuss, and then started threads for the top 2-4 votegetters? Everything else could stay in Natter or Boxed Set, and there wouldn't be the spoilage problems that come with a general TV thread.

Lyra Jane, I think that's a good idea, but then, I'm pro-proliferation. How much of an impact would that have on board health (technically speaking)?

That's definitely the most important question. I don't want to do anything that would compromise board health, so if my idea would cause major problems, it's out.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I don't know for sure. However, traffic in the Buffy and Angel threads is way down, so a general thread, or even a couple of show related threads could be okay.

Thanks, DX.

My concern with a general TV thread is, it doesn't eliminate the whitefont problem -- it just relocates it. (Unless we want to decide that nothing aired in the U.S. is a spoiler for purposes of that thread, but I know that would make too many people too unhappy. It would make *me* unhappy, for that matter.)

We might also be ready to close Angel spoilers, Previously, and Angel Quotables (I'm not sure how close to done the Deathmatches are), which would also slightly reduce the server load.

Yeah, I agree that a general purpose TV thread would have to follow the same rules as in Natter. I do like the idea of the poll just to see if there's any shows that people really want to talk about in more detail than Natter really allows.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Maybe (just thinking out loud), it might be better to group shows into a couple/few threads, rather than one big tv thread. I'm not rightly sure what goes well together, but it seems like that would be easier to manage, as readers, unless there are basically only going to be postings about a show on the night of and day after, but, for Lost, at least, that doesn't currently look to be the case.

But, yeah, a "what are we watching" poll is, I think, a good first step.
