"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

'The large Bandicoot rat of India.'

That goes by the name of "Crash" I can only assume.

So, buffalo-pile. Or, for us unAmericans, bison-pile. Who's with me?

See, I read both of these as 'pie' instead of 'pile', and while that could represent a tasty meat pie, that wasn't my immediate thought when confronting the phrase 'buffalo-pie'.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sorry, bt. I grew up with "dogpile."

I won't say what I grew up with. Just that it's a word that starts with a racial epitaph and end in "pile." I last heard that word when I was in first or second grade.

Art Crawl!!!

pigpile and puppypile -- when you see litters of piglets and puppies? Often they are piled on top of one another. Fun for some -- but what about the poor piglet or puppy at the very bottom of the pile?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Only if it's puppypile without plot.

What is even happening?

Allyson, I am sorry you felt pig piled upon. I didn't see Monday night as a pig pile, because people seemed to be addressing you one at a time, and most times, you responded before the next person posted. Each subsequent person seemed to take into account what you'd said in your responses. Regardless, it's a lousy feeling to experience, and if I'd even suspected it seemed like a pig pile to you, I wouldn't have contributed to it. I am sorry.

I also never meant to put forth that your career comments could be considered on the same level as Sean's outburst. In reviewing my post, I think I could have been more clear about that. I am sorry. I was just struck by the irony of making an inappropriate (to me) comment, while calling someone else out. For me, truly, that first incident was over (that "for me" comes into play next*), and I was addressing the next issue.

* I understand and respect that first incident had not passed for you, just because it had passed for me. I don't hold (what I see as) the typical Buffista philosophy of silence, once an argument is tapering off, as sacrosanct. Witness this post. I don't see one thing wrong with you speaking up after the fact, when you couldn't participate during. Since that incident spoke to you so strongly, I actually believe you were obligated to speak up about it, regardless of what stage the conversation had reached. t /Bronze colored glasses

I don't agree with some of Polgara's conclusions that you've said you share, in fact I find flaw with part of her premise. But I suspect at this point, that's neither here nor there, and people upstream have probably covered it.

I didn't address your comments that troubled me out of some I-think-you-can-take-it, and/or Sean-needs-protecting stance. I addressed the comments that bothered me, because I was convicted that my original silence (at Sean's outburst) was wrong, and I didn't want to make the same mistake again, and so soon after. I suspect some other people who addressed you also felt convicted about their earlier silence, and needed to speak up, for that reason. For me, it really wasn't about personalities, or friendships. Regardless of the fact that I feel closer to Sean than to you or ita, I think you, ita, and Sean all know each other better than I know any of you.

I also was blunt, and am afraid I came across harshly. I was blunt, because you seem (to me) not to have much patience for Buffista lube. Also, there were things I expected you'd understand about my reasoning, going in. That was a ridiculous expectation for me to have. You're not a mind reader.

Where I have caused you offense, I am sorry. I wish I had said instead, "Although I support you sticking up for ita, and agree with much of what you say, I take issue with your bringing your opinion of Sean's career statements into the conversation. It weakens your stance, and is, in my opinion, overly personal." I am sorry I didn't.

Thank you for taking the time to discuss this with so many of us.

...

Sean,

Since I didn't see any of your deleted comments other than what Monique quoted back, I am going to assume the best--assume you deleted them, because you know you need to cool yourself down.

Given the little bits I see quoted back, that's good. In Tuesday's posts, Allyson mostly talked about the community failing to stand up for+ ita, and about her own feelings on what was said to her. I saw no taunting nor goading--of anyone. After you have fully cooled down, please consider taking a few days to think over whether or not you have issues you want to address with ita, Allyson, or anyone else, privately. I hope you're okay. Email is always open.

+ edited way late to change "to" to "for"--because the meaning is completely different. oy.
