There are sites that love and adore seeing links out there everywhere possible. It seems that we might let it be known somehow that we don't encourage such linkage.

It seems that we might let it be known somehow that we don't encourage such linkage.
I can't think of any pervasive but non-hostile ways to do it, though.
wag a finger in minearverse-- "hey guys? please don't link to us at whedonesque. It really hurts our server" (white lie) and something in the etiquette...?
What if a general big mouth, non-stompy type said it, very nicely?
Those may count as non-hostile, but I also think they'd have pretty much no effect.
Most of the whedonesque linking has been done despite our public freaking out, despite the whedonesque people having been asked about it.
Then can we be petty and run around the net linking them all over the place? Like, where there's porn and stuff?

There isn't a "they" to be petty towards. Plus, they might like it.
Well.
Then bleh.
We now have 1460 members. Wow.
When I email Simon directly, he'll remove links. But the problem is, their reason for being is to post news, and people (Joss and Tim) do post big ass news here, from time to time. We can ask our own registered users to not go off and post there. But if Joss comes in and says, "Hey, I'm writing the Buffy movie right now, and it's fucking great!" Then we send him a server bill.
Or something. That's all we can do.
