Our wings are not tired.

It may be off topic for our Bureaucracy, but Google rocks!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

That "explanation" link has been up above the results for some time, but yeah, they rock.

The wiki page is number one, right now.

Woohoo!

What is even happening?

That "explanation" link has been up above the results for some time, but yeah, they rock.

Yesterday, I didn't see it at the top of the search results page (it may have been there, I just didn't see it). They had the usual news-y type links above the main hits.

Woohoo!

Yepper. I wish I had an important web page to link it.

Woohoo!

Totally Natter, but tomorrow is the official "Holocaust Memorial Day" in Israel. It starts pretty much now, since in Judaism the day always starts on the sun-down of the previous evening, and I find it fitting, in a way t /Natter

Can we all agree that a "Hi. I'm new. Here I am introducing myself." post in Press should be deleted? Good, because I already deleted it.

t /ruthless

If the person posts in one of the nattery theads asking why, please explain. I'm behind in those threads and will probably miss it.

DXMachina - Apr 18, 2004 1:11:01 pm PDT #158 of 10001
You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

Huh. I guess.

I added natter deletion warning to the slugs for Beep Me and Press. Too many newcomers, and the only previous warnings in those threads were in the descriptions which people won't see after the first time they look in the thread.

Liese S. - Apr 18, 2004 1:53:26 pm PDT #159 of 10001
"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Ya, I prolly wouldn't have deleted it, but mighta told the person. Well, clearly, I didn't delete it, but neither did I do the latter.

It's good to add the natter warning, but I don't want it to be too unfriendly. People are welcome to post in those threads, they are there for us as a community. It's just that judgment has to be used, and if you're new, it's tough to figure out what goes where. Other places do have 'just say hi' threads, so it's not too far a stretch.

What is even happening?

How about a new FAQ entry

Q: Where should newbies introduces themselves, in Press or Beep Me?

A: Eeek! Neither. You'll be stomped. Mercilessly. Those threads are for different sorts of annoucements (see the thread descriptions for details). Just delurk and introduce yourself in whichever thread sparks your interest. We know some other boards have introduction threads, but as you're about to find out, we're not like other boards (and you'll love us for it).

eta...

Then the next time someone introduces himself in Press or Beep Me, the Stompy can edit out the text, and put a polite, but short note, like "Introduction deleted by [Stompy's Name], see FAQ for explanation."

(and make "FAQ" a link to the appropriate FAQ text).
