There will be turkey so tender it damned near melts. There will be roasted garlic mashed potatoes and a killer gravy. There will be mushroom pie and amazing desserts. There will be 'dre's incredible cranberry sauce (also that jellied stuff, for those who prefer). There will be bird stuffing and pan stuffing. There will be homebaked bread.
I will have none of this. Sob. OTOH, I will mostly likely have plenty of icy vodka.
t does the Going To Moscow dance
Y'all might want to get used to that over the next month. IJS.
David, bring Jacqueline and all for afters, if you guys are booked for dinner (which I assume you are, with the whole family thang). Pie. Coffee. Champagne. Maybe brandy in your homemade eggnog.
Yum! Lovely offer, Deb. Thank you - I think we might be slated to do a double thanksgiving this year, though. An Emmett oriented one with his mother, and then maybe a stopover with JZ's mom. If not, however, I'd love to drop by.
Also, Jon B. will be around that weekend
With FAQ Girl. And I'm starting to think I should dump my family in favor of T'day at Chez Grabien.
t kidding
t a little
t will Deb have leftovers?
Deb - our normal T-Day plans are assunder this year. I think my mom wants to do something for dinner, but maybe the kids and I could cruise by for dessert?
I'm starting to think I should dump my family in favor of T'day at Chez Grabien.
You will not be sorry if you do. IJS
I believe in the dumping of family on major holidays.
Anyone who wants to have dinner here? Is totally welcome.
Anyone who wants to come by for dessert? Is totally welcome.
All I ask is about three or four days advance notice, to make certain there is food for miles.
There always is, or always has been; last year we were augmented by the addition of two steam trays (yes, steam trays), prepped by my daughter's boyfriend's personal chef (yes, personal chef, and the general consensus is that his cooking isn't nearly as good as mine), adding something with yams (I'm allergic, so I don't cook them) and a baked mac and cheese, which made many many people happy.
I'm thinking of adding a harvest tart this year. Yum. But it depends on whether I can fnd tiny tiny champagne grapes.
I'm just saying.
Oh, oh, pick me, pick me! I may be in SF for T'day, if I am not hiding, but either way, you are welcome to come stay with me while you are in LA.
Oh, I don't think I responded to this. Thanks, Lee, I'd be very pleased to stay with you in L.A.
Oh dear, Deb's talking about food again.
Weeps.
If the election does not turn out the way I hope it does (I can't even type the phrase "____ wins," for fear of jinxing it), I'm very tempted to hop a plane and spend Thanksgiving elsewhere, because my extended family will be unbearable.
