Um, what NO haters? That I like to fall over at midnight and that I don't think sitting a bar is anything but a huge waste of time makes me a NO hater? Where did I - or anyone else - say NO sucks? Heather, if the fact that I don't like booze and that it being offered as an inducement has the general effect of sending me screaming in the opposite direction, how is that saying your city sucks? Besides, already made it pretty damned clear that I don't think it sucks; I'd love the place for the restaurants alone. (edit: I'd make a beeline for Galatoire's)
1. Accept that NO is the city, it was chosen.
Yes, it was. No argument there. And hell yes, I'm with you - you ran the vote right.
I just can't see what that has to do with my weighing the cost, comfort and group attractions being touted against making my own schedule, in a very ideosyncratic city, which is how I usually do it, makes the trip something I'd be likely to do.
I wonder if they do cemetary tours at night?
I'm really hoping for a chance for a cemetry tour, I've wanted to go to NOLA and see the cemetries for ever!
I'm pretty sure no cemetaries at night. But there are a number of different night time tours with ghost story or voodoo or gothy vampire slants.
St. Louis #2 is my favorite cemetary in New Orleans. Just the right amount of dilapidated, and a huge variety to the tombs, each with history behind them.
I'm guessing a lot of people will be wanting to do seafood, or cajun or creole. What about vegetarian, or some of the other local ethnic stuff?

Hil should be able to help with this.

I didn't mean to be pointing at you, I'm sorry if you thought I was. It just seemed like there was initial "yay NO" and then a bunch of "it's too hot, nothing to do but drink" regrets about it being chosen in a way I haven't seen expressed about previous choices, and as I said I'm probably being a little sensitive about the South/La/NO.
I'm just saying, if I come down there, I'm having beignets at Cafe du Monde. I don't know about
you
guys.
Hec, I was asking if that was something people wanted info for. I'm pretty much fishing for categories and/or suggestions for things people are interested in. I know zoo trips, capitol trips, and things were arranged in DC, and I was going to put together some of those options for stuff people seemed most interested in.
Here's what's good about New Orleans: great food, great music, lots of fun things to see, great for history buffs, fun atmosphere.
Surely the Buffistas can take advantage of these virtues to maximize our YayFun.
Me too P-C! Because I missed my chance the only other time I'd been there.
Also, definitely want to go to the aquarium and a plantation tour sounds fun too.
