Heather, if the fact that I don't like booze and that it being offered as an inducement has the general effect of sending me screaming in the opposite direction, how is that saying your city sucks? Besides, already made it pretty damned clear that I don't think it sucks; I'd love the place for the restaurants alone.
I didn't mean to be pointing at you, I'm sorry if you thought I was. It just seemed like there was initial "yay NO" and then a bunch of "it's too hot, nothing to do but drink" regrets about it being chosen in a way I haven't seen expressed about previous choices, and as I said I'm probably being a little sensitive about the South/La/NO.
I'm just saying, if I come down there, I'm having beignets at Cafe du Monde. I don't know about
you
guys.
Hec, I was asking if that was something people wanted info for. I'm pretty much fishing for categories and/or suggestions for things people are interested in. I know zoo trips, capitol trips, and things were arranged in DC, and I was going to put together some of those options for stuff people seemed most interested in.
Here's what's good about New Orleans: great food, great music, lots of fun things to see, great for history buffs, fun atmosphere.
Surely the Buffistas can take advantage of these virtues to maximize our YayFun.
Me too P-C! Because I missed my chance the only other time I'd been there.
Also, definitely want to go to the aquarium and a plantation tour sounds fun too.

I don't remember how long ago we went there, but we brought back a box of beignet mix, and my mom never ever made them.
Luckily, I discovered Crescent City Beignets in Houston, so that was, as they say, nummy.
I also want to see anything relating to
Gabriel Knight.
Oh, I'm with ND, and I believe I said so. The choice was made, and those definitely attending should be planning. I wasn't dissing the choice, or suggesting a recount, or anything like that. I was pointing out that, personally - as in ME AND ME ALONE, as in not intended to represent anyone but myself - I have physical realities that need my first consideration, and particular tastes/prejudices (see above, re noisy inebriated crowds in small enclosed places) that come in a close second.
And, that's all. I'd be considering whether the lure of snatching a few minutes with people and eating myself paralytic (I've done that in NOLA before, and it's, um, decadent) was a sufficient balance to the possibility of not being able to go outside.
Hi.
A fun thing to do in NO - the New Orleans Pharmacy Museum. No really, I've heard this is really fun....
deb, I'll be splitting my time between the bars and the restaurants, so if you are there with us I'll be joining you in eating myself into a coma.
Hmmm, I'm thinking the leather kilt might not be the best choice for F2F 2005, I wonder if I can get one in a nice linen or something.
