F2F 2: Is there anybody here that hasn't slept together?

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: New Orleans! May 20-22, 2005!

Ann, that's a ferret.

Dana, I have fond memories of the (St. Charles) streetcar, though I don't remember it as being terribly quick. It comes fairly close to the near edge of Metairie -- but I doubt there are hotels in that neighborhood.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I'm guessing the hotel bids in Metairie are on or around Veterans and/or 610. So yeah, not very streetcar-ish.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

-t, is it easy to take public transportation from Metairie to touristy areas? I don't remember it being that way, but my experience is 20 years old and thus not to be trusted too far.

It's possible, but not easy. Would involve at least two transfers.

Getting to the FQ and environs would be an excursion from the Metairie hotel rather than an impulsive jaunt. It could be done with rental cars/cars of people who drove in or cabs. Cabs would be pretty easy to arrange and probably cost $25 or so/trip (which could be split up by up to 4 passengers, I think). I'd certainly have a car (barring unexpected moving away) and could run shuttles.

Metairie is closer to the airport, so the initial coming in and final leaving would probably be cheaper and easier.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Being in Metairie would almost negate the virtues of being in New Orleans for me. It's too far out from the action.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

I am already quite psyched about the next F2F, wherever it may be. There is one site I'd like more than the others, and another I'd be more than happy with, but I'm looking forward to having the F2F experience not being on my own turf. I had a great time in DC, but had a nagging sense of responsibility that I think kept me from being more participatory, if that makes any sense.

I'm looking forward to seeing an all-new place in the company of people I like. That's a heady combination and is one of the things I love most about travel. It's not so much that I'm in Paris, or Florence, or New York City, but that I can enjoy the enjoyment of others.

What Anne said!

Also, though, can someone Nilly me the Toronto proposal?

Nicely put, Anne.

Our wings are not tired

Hey there folks. We're not going to get the vote rolling today as we've still not gotten any info on Toronto and some information from KC still hasn't made it in. How does everyone feel about pushing the vote until Monday? We'll do the vote then, and open it up for three days and then post the results one week from today?

Sorry for the delay on this. We all got caught up in the Nilly visit which was a truly wondrous thing. I'd like to give us the chance to actually talk about these cities for a bit before we jump right into the vote.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

talk about these cities

I heard that KC slept with a couple of people to get into the top 5 list.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Works for me, ND. I have poor smonster, sick as all getout, asleep in the next room and my brain isn't working anyway.
