Buffy? I like that. That girl's so hot, she's buffy.

Who? moi??

Somewhere on this board a link to one picture was posted. I followed that and got all of the pictures.

Looks to me like Nilly had a good time!

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

New Orleans looks like $100-$120/night, or $69.99 in Metairie. I got around 15 proposals in that range and several more that were higher (some of which offer nifty things like nightly wine tastings with massage).

i'm sure we've mentioned the vampire/voodoo/cemetery/swamp tours, the bars, the coffee shops, the restaurants. The beignets, the muffalettas, the sazeracs and hand grenades. We also have minor league baseball (with nutria as mascots!), museums (art, history, pharmacy, etc.), and river boats. And much much more...

Ann, that's a ferret.

-t, is it easy to take public transportation from Metairie to touristy areas? I don't remember it being that way, but my experience is 20 years old and thus not to be trusted too far.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I wouldn't think it's super-easy. The buses have never been fabulous.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Oh, yeah. Here's the link to the Minneapolis proposal:

Ann, that's a ferret.

Dana, I have fond memories of the (St. Charles) streetcar, though I don't remember it as being terribly quick. It comes fairly close to the near edge of Metairie -- but I doubt there are hotels in that neighborhood.

I'm guessing the hotel bids in Metairie are on or around Veterans and/or 610. So yeah, not very streetcar-ish.

It's possible, but not easy. Would involve at least two transfers.

Getting to the FQ and environs would be an excursion from the Metairie hotel rather than an impulsive jaunt. It could be done with rental cars/cars of people who drove in or cabs. Cabs would be pretty easy to arrange and probably cost $25 or so/trip (which could be split up by up to 4 passengers, I think). I'd certainly have a car (barring unexpected moving away) and could run shuttles.

Metairie is closer to the airport, so the initial coming in and final leaving would probably be cheaper and easier.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Being in Metairie would almost negate the virtues of being in New Orleans for me. It's too far out from the action.
