It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

A note to Ginger, in re Nilly's visit to SF: just spoke with Jeannie, downstairs, and we look to be good to go for giving you a bed in her flat, downstairs. She only has three cats to our, er, larger pile, so your sinuses should rest a bit easier.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Thanks, Deb! And thank Jeannie for me.

So Nilly's going to stay with me, as is Bev; Ginger is going to be downstairs with Jeannie.

Anyone else need to arrange non-hotel accommodations? Or does anyone need help with Bay Area cheap hotels?

"This bar smells like kerosene and stripper tears."

If the next narrowing is going to rest on numbers, I'd like to make these arguments before the vote

Jackson Square.

The Riverfront

Lafitte's

Muriel's

O'Flaherty's

Maison St. Charles The less than $90 a night before discounts hotel.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Nilly, doing something like flying into Boston, staying there a few days, going to NYC for a few days, then down here to DC for a few days, would be totally do-able. (If you want to stay with me, then coming to DC during the days when the Republican convention is in NYC would work out great -- that's the time in between when my exams end and classes start.)

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

For the Nilly visit, remember that the Dems are meeting in Boston - don't know the dates offhand, but it's probably around that time. Just think - you may have to come to DC to get away from the political folk!

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

The Democratic convention is the last week of July -- well before Nilly's visit.

But just in time for ND's, IIRC!

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

Coming in and bitching us out after the fact seems out of line when this thread has always had natter in it.

I hope that this doesn't refer to my comment, because all I said was could we stop nattering in a non natter thread. That's not "bitching anyone out".

Vortex, I think Dana covered it, but that was a comment to me. I was the cranky butt, bitching, out of line person, who tried to confer administrative thread rules here. I am available for board meetings, family disputes, and brou hahas.

If the next narrowing is going to rest on numbers

I think the idea is to get some solid-ish numbers for the four final cities, but the final decision for the location is still by vote, so that doesn't necessarily mean the most seemingly economical (accomodation, touristing, travelling to) site will win. Just that people will have some good info. (that will include numbers) up front on which to base a final decision. Is my interpretation.
