New Orleans is one of around 12 cities being discussed at the moment. We've been working on the dates for the last couple of weeks and I'll be posting those tomorrow evening.
On July 15th we'll narrow things down to 4 cities, then from there narrow it down again to our final choice.
Maybe jumping the gun a bit here, but a little meta might help --
What are we looking for in a city? Upthread, people mentioned climate, easy to get to (for transportation options and cost), easy to get around (especially public transportation), possibly things to do.
What's most important?
I think that easy-to-get-to is probably the most important.
After that, I think the other three factors work in combination. If the climate is oogy but the things-to-do are in climate controlled environments, then climate is somewhat negated. If the climate is wonderful, then perhaps we wouldn't need as many things to do. If the list of things-to-do is limited, then getting around isn't quite as important. Does that make sense?

Perzacktly. I do think that it would be nice, one of these days, to have an F2F at more of a self-contained resorty place where the emphasis would be on hanging out and there would be plenty of on-site stuff for people to do.
High on my list is a good facility. Easy to get to is first to get a nice turnout, but having a comfy place to hang out when not going on field trips is important.
Very much so, Laura. I'd love to have a Hospitality Suite that was actually a nice place to hang out and slounge.

Deeply allergic to resorty places over here, but that's a different strokes thing, I guess.
