You might want to also check flight fares though; USAir (and others?) right now has a $103 round trip flight from DC, and that's cheaper than the train and a lot quicker!
you know, I would be willing to take longer, cause I like the train, but to be more expensive? Grr.
So the East Coast F2F will be the weekend of my wedding? sigh...

If I end up using public transportation, i'll probably take the Chinatown bus to NY, then Metro North up to you. It'll take longer, but I think it will be much cheaper.
Hmm. Seriously doubt I'll be able to make it, which sucks. Would also love to get in on ND's amusement park-a-thon. I haven't been to an amusement park in eons.
Yes, folks, that's right, I'm still at home sick. Soon I get to go to the laundromat, b/c I am a bad mommy and didn't scoop the litter box and Bella peed on the sofa cover. Yes, this is the cat who peed on my corset.
::sigh::
Crossposted to LJ, Blast from the (recent) Past:
Prom was an amazing immersion experience. A wall of sound, music provided by NoiseDesign, and moving bodies, glitter, tiaras, gorgeous fabrics and more than a few corsets. The women were not alone in flaunting fine feathers. NoiseDesign wore a black leather kilt with boots and a black brocade shirt edged in gold brocade. JohnSweden wore a soft and flowing suit of embroidered Indian cotton, Jon B. wore a maribou boa to match the bright pattern in his black shirt, Bicyclops wore his Indiana Jones hat and suspenders, Lyrajane's P wore an elegant tuxedo, and there were more men outfitted resplendently. Camera flashes went off as people tried to capture moments to share and to savor later, and conversation ebbed and flowed over the pounding music.
The hired bartender was reported to have spent what time he wasn't pouring drinks or gawping in amazement on his cell phone, reporting the experience in all its surreality. He seemed impressed by all the boobage on display, as well as the peacock resplendence of the men. But apparently his HSQ level rose several notches when Jon B. reappeared in his silver suit and began to play the theremin.
The crowd went wild with approval at the musical stylings, and it was impossible not to sing along. The Greatest Love was rendered in a style hitherto unexperienced in any venue, I'd say without fear of contradiction. Vortex's lovely voice rose, and she began to sway in time to the music, and then smonster and amyth and others joined their voices to hers, and began to headbang to the (strangely slow) beat. The whole room was singing and swaying. Panties were tossed, approval was roared, it was a thing.

I'm fully expecting next year's bestselling quasi-fictional book to be Boobs, Pleather, Candy! A Day in the Life of a Hotel Bartender.

In spite of the fact the AC was cranked to the max, the room was stifling with the heat of bodies in motion. Part of the crowd drifted outside onto the roof terrace, where a crescent moon rode the sky on a cool and welcome breeze. JavaCat was busy taking glamour shots of the attendees, and talk eddied and flowed, as did the people, between the hospitality suite and the terrace. It was here one was able to get full-length views of some of the outfits, notably: DebetEsse's corset and go-to-hell hat, complete with veil, cocked over one eye. Anne W's sophisticated flowy black pants and spaghetti strap camisole, topped by the silver-spangled black cobweb stole she'd been knitting for days. Raquel's corset, with garters clipped to her skirt to lift it, exposing the colored crinolines beneath, and her lace bolero and fabulously piled hairdo. JavaCat's champagne satin sheath, simple elegance, Trudy's purple silk sheath, appliqued with bugle beads and sequins, Teppy's elegant black dress, Deb's flowing black number, fanny-wrapped with a multicolored satin scarf, and her tiara of pearls and golden flowers. Ginger's black pants and top, with a sheer cobalt shirt and glitter in her hair. Vortex's tulle ballskirt and corset in shimmering weft threads of red and warp threads of green. Shira's taffeta ballskirt and "Faster Pussycat, Kill! Kill!" tee. Jess changed not once but twice, first into a short, asymmetrical leather skirt, shiny tights and a bustier, the second time into a print velvet sheath that fit like a slinky skin and set off her gorgeous complexion. KateP changed from an Indian silk dress with embroidered shoes to match into heavy boots and a ball skirt and corset, complete with matching hotpink mitts and maribou boa. JZ's amazing polkadot corset and black skirt was switched for a hot little black sheath, skirt split to here and laced across the body with ribbon straps. The Empress and smonster also changed outfits midstream, as did others I'm sure I'm neglecting to mention. Brendon was talked into changing his shirt and tie for a gorgeous Hawaiian shirt, and JohnSweden switched out his Indian cotton suit for jeans and tshirt, both of which set off his pearl tiara surprisingly well. NoiseDesign's brocade and leather looked just as fabulous by the end of the evening as it had started.
Fashion show aside, I was pleased to talk to people, overhear snatches of intriguing conversations, join some of those, get swept away from others. I was overcome periodically by proximity to so many humans, but it was manageable, and overall I enjoyed the evening more than I'd thought possible. The awarding of Class Protector medals was misty-making, and everyone receiving one wore it with pride. Deena did an absolute kickass job on the women's beaded chokers. I hope someone set her pictures of Java and Lee wearing theirs, but we really wished she could be there in person to see for herself.
(There will be more, evertually. Be afraid.)
Loving Bev's posts!
Smonster, I'm so sorry you're sick.

DX is right, Sheryl. And hey! ND is ordained, so...I really just don't see the problem here.
Hil is probably right, Vortex. I'm so psyched you all are planning on coming, in any case! How exciting!
Pouting now at missing the Kristin miniF2F.
